I’m worried about the Dutch connection here. i.e. Brands/Van de Beek. No thanks.
He’s been hear over 3 yrs and I don’t think he’s bought one Dutch player. Remember when he name checked Ihatteren again he never kicked on. I know he’s not 20 for a few months. But juve just paid 5 mil for him. A Dutch fan on Twitter 2 years ago said he would go for 50mil eventually.

The only one I would hope he was looking at, is the English lad at PSV Noni madeke ( spelling) who was at Spurs. He look a talent.

This will be one for the vaults potentially, but I wouldn't mind Winks at all.

Once you get past Allan and Doucoure, we don't have another centre mid at the club that I'd particularly want anywhere near the team. Winks hasn't been in good form for a while, but an on form Winks looks after the ball better than any centre mid we have with the arguable exception of the one game in 30 that Gomes turns up.

Couple of things on this - at some point, if we carry on our good form, teams are going to sit in and not let us break on them and at that point having someone who can pass the ball well may be something we need. Secondly, having a deep-lying midfielder like Winks (at his best) who can pass the ball and has vision to execute a pass may well be a good thing from the perspective of helping us transition up the pitch quickly at times.

If Benitez wants him, I would accept that he sees a tactical role for him and would be confident we'd see a better version of the player than the one we've seen at Spurs since Pochettino left. Benitez has credit in the bank on this front at the moment, given the tune he's getting out of the likes of Gray, Townsend etc

Not for me mate, but all about opinions.

For me he’s weak, slow. Yes he maybe better on the ball than some of our player are, but he’s not top draw. And appreciate that we probably can’t attract top draw at this moment. He doesn’t score. I bet his assist stats on great for an apparently good technical player.

I just have his cameo in our 5-4 cup game last season in my Brain, when he was atrocious.

For me unless you’re a world class technical footballer. I think you will struggle in the prem being small and week. Man City can carry silva, Bernardo and David. But not many clubs can. Look at Liverpool they’ve always had a big physical midfield. Thiago is a class above winks and he’s struggled.

Chelsea’s 3 Jorginho, Kante, Kovacic all strong and aggressive. Personally it’s what’s needed in this league. And it’s been proven in our team with Allan and Doucoure and before that Gana. In between it’s been Davies, Gomes, Schneiderlin, sometimes siggurdsson. Just go and buy big string aggressive midfielders for me.

I might end up being massively wrong mate, but I think I'd follow the logic if Benitez wants him

TBF, I wouldn't expect his assist stats to be great given how deep he tends to play

Well apparently he wants longstaff who has very good pressing stats. And is on a free( ok he may want to stay now) I would hope on top of that we’re in for a Bissouma type midfielder who can alternate With Allan & Doucoure, to give us 3 excellent midfielders

At the moment Hojbjerg & skipp is their midfield 2. And they wouldn’t get in our team. So what does that say about winks

If Everton continue with their impressive start to the season anyone who comes in would not necessarily be guaranteed game time unless of course we hit another major injury crisis. Once Coleman DCL and Richarlison are fit the starting line up picks itself so a player coming here just for guaranteed game time could struggle

I’m not so sure on that one. We saw Allan started to struggle with injuries last season when the games started coming thick and fast. IMO we deffo need another quality CM to alternate in there. Unfortunately that won’t happen before January at the earliest; I just hope our season isn’t derailed because of injuries in and around Christmas.

From RB’s comments I genuinely think he sees Godfrey as an option at right back, which would explain why we’re after that young fella at Rangers who would be a more long term successor to Coleman.

Not really if we want to challenge for the top 6/4 places. This current 11 even if we get some luck with injuries and decisions will do very well to get top 6.

RB, CB, CM and 2 more wing/forwards we will need IMO over the next few windows.

If we genuinely want to compete then I agree 100 percent. Benitez alluded to some players playing too many minutes recently and I imagine he included the likes of Townsend in that. They’re playing out of their skin at the minute but think we need to add firepower to Andros and Gray if we want to push on.

I agree with both you and stevenlloyd but my point is that simeine who wants a move just for guaranteed game time would struggle to get that if the current form continues

TBF you'd have said last season that neither Gray nor Townsend would get into our team either

Probably sounds like I'm a big fan. I'm not, I just think we need different types of players and the evidence of the last few months would make me trust Benitez if he singled Winks out as someone he wanted.
