Shows the massive gulf in our squad and Chelsea’s unfortunatelyNot sure if this is the right thread, as it's more summer orientated, but do wonder if we will try to benefit from the connections Lampard has to Chelsea, but on a loan perspective of helping to develop players, but also from signing good young players and also talented youth players that their coaches may know.
So I'll stick a few names out there I like. Obviously we won't sign all, or even most, but there are more who I would be happy to see.
Dujon Sterling. I believe he is out of contract at the end of the season, Just turned 22 and getting good experience in the championship. 6 ft 1 right back, but can fill in at centre half. On a free with a tribunal fee at the end, to me would be a perfect option with Kenny likely leaving.
Other young up and coming players. Broja/Colwill. I think both of these on permanents (or if we can't get the loans below, maybe one on loan) would be really smart buys. Colwill is 19 and has done very well in the championship, while Brojo has done well for Southampton. They fit the template of Lampard working with Mount, Abraham, Tomori, James etc when he first started working with them. I'd be happy with either arriving on a permanent.
Ideal Loans- Gallagher/Gilmour would be a great loan option for us. I think a permanent will be too pricey, but a season on loan for either would be great. You'd probably prioritise Gallagher as he seems a bit more advanced.
Dreamworld- Callum Hudson Odoi. If we could get him in on loan, I think it would be brilliant. No idea if Chelsea would allow it, but giving him to Lampard to smooth over for a year could work.
Left field names: Harvey Vale is very highly rated there. I believe he has a year on his contract. If he could but pulled out, or other younger players, that would be quite a coup. Hopefully Lampard and the potential coaches may know 1 or 2 that we can begin to pull across.
I would try to avoid some of the more senior names if we can, the Barkleys etc. Maybe Loftus Cheek as an exception, but not wholly convinced Lampard played him much?
Bizarre loan signing to say the least!!!Does show the utter stupidity of getting el ghazi in on loan - means we can only get one more loan signing in when we could do with a couple of additions in CM at least and I don’t know if we’ve got the ffp wriggle room to actually sign someone
This?
I thought Gilmour was injured? Not sure why he's being linked
Mourhino hit the nail on the head in that program where he chats to dele, check it out if you haven’t seen itThink either of vdb or dele would be fine, concerns about the latters attitude but change of scenery may do him the world of good. Either way we need players ASAP.
Any truth in the return of Barkley on loan?
Everton gonna EvertonIt's absolutely staggering business to have brought in El Ghazi or however you spell his name. Already stocked in that position and we take up a loan spot for no reason at all.
Wouldn’t say our squad is a 17th place one! If someone guaranteed us 17th this season I’d bite their hand offWhen Moshiri arrived and we were around the 6th-8th in terms of squad we needed then to try attract some big players.
We are now a 10th-17th squad and we need to go after younger, cheaper and hungrier players with desire to help get back to the 6th-8th bracket.
Dembele? Aubameyang? No thanks.
Yeah that’s where I’m at. We’re in no position to sniff our noses at VDB, but it can’t be just him. He can play a 8/10 hybrid that Lampard likes to use. Essentially how Gomes started last season, but he has more steel and mobility. He’s had some really nice moments but hasn’t gotten a run of games. If VDB is the only signing it's a concern yes. We desperately need more mobility in midfield I am guessing Lamps will give Gbamin/Onyango more games though
Norwich fans love Delia Smith and loved mike walker mate, mike bloody walkerSpot on.
Had a couple of ok games for Chelsea and his stock rose beyond all reason.
Norwich fans hate him.
VDB I think does slot into solving some midfield creation problems, but the business I think leaves Everton a bit precarious. Man U wont take a huge loss, and at 24 having struggled to establish himself at a large club we arent setting ourselves up for great odds for a plus sell on. Or a huge window of time for his development to drastically improve.
Granted we have no 10s currently on the squad, and he seems gettable at the close of the window. But I would look to find a similar player profile (like Kokcu tbf) first, or post a loan than retaining him come the summer.
Choudhury is probably not the best use of our england loan spot, but he is a buy low candidate that is intriguing.

Surely if PSG are desperate to get bodies out of the door there’s a loan opportunity to be had?
