I thought Gilmour was injured? Not sure why he's being linked

As of the 11th Jan was supposed to be out for 3-4 weeks with an ankle knock.

Yeah that’s where I’m at. We’re in no position to sniff our noses at VDB, but it can’t be just him. He can play a 8/10 hybrid that Lampard likes to use. Essentially how Gomes started last season, but he has more steel and mobility. He’s had some really nice moments but hasn’t gotten a run of games.

My worry is that he might not have the mentality for the dog scrap we find ourselves in, which is why I think can’t just be him. It should be him and a new defensive mid. Then it’s Allan, Doucoure, VDB, new DM, Gomes and Onyango fighting for 3 spots. That leaves us with enough cover to make it to the summer, even with Doucoure’s injury.

I think VDB will definitely have something to prove. Very good player and levels above Klaasen.

I actually liked him as a DM for Ajax (i know almost everyone prefers him as an AM) but it shows his versatility.

Very tactically aware so if we were pressing in a 'unit' from the front he would be someone carrying out the instructions with the others following the press.

Really need a DM.

Perhaps its a simple as James/Ancelotti = Lampard/Gilmour.

Perhaps its a simple as James/Ancelotti = Lampard/Gilmour.

He's been the scapegoat for them as it's easier to blame a young kid you don't own rather than the rest of the players mate.

If by some miracle we signed him and managed to get Richarlison to sign an extension then we'd be laughing.

Add in Antony and we'd have Brazils top 3 players in the last Olympics.

@catcherintherye I'd also have asked for a loan from psg for whoever out of gueye, Herrera or wijnaldum they would let go

I think Gueye may be our best option is there was any possibility it could be done.

He's contract expires in 2023 so might be asking for alot of wages to extend?

Kamara is class, would be ideal for us. Literally perfect...as would Guimaraes.

Different players but perfect for our DM role.
