Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

To be fair Forest paid £15m for a 31 year old journeyman who arrived on the back of 4 goals in 35 games for Newcastle. It has paid off massively but had we just done similar there wouldn't be much support for the deal on here.
Chris wood has been bang average to garbage all his career in England apart from this season. Goes to show that bang average donkeys can have a decent season or 2. I've watched his goals this season and I don't know what's happened! He's taken some of them like he's batistuta or something. He'll probably be rubbish next year, but fair play he's been great this season

9 points from Moyes's first 4 games was much better than many of us hoped for and expected. We effectively have 10 points on the bottom 3 with our far superior goal difference. I'm quite sure, had we not been sitting so pretty, we'd have got another player or 2 over the line.

However, this is a good thing. We didn't have to do anything rash. Alcaraz has a lot of upside and is an attacking option we didn't have yesterday. 3 more wins probably does it for us.

If you were disappointed with our lack of business in this window, I can all but guarantee you we'll see at least like 5/6 new faces in the summer. We're gonna have to just to stand still, we have 8 players with contracts expiring and at least 3 of the 5 loans will be heading back.

Absolute nonsense to describe Chris Wood that way. He's one of only 2 or 3 strikers to average 10+ goals per season over 4 seasons or more. Lmao describing that as bang average.

What are they thinking weakening the squad further with Harrison going out?

Absolute clowns.

Moyes wanted 2-3 before Mangala went out for a season and DCL.

Thelwell needs booting

Just my opinion! Can't say I'm an expert on teams other than Everton but we have been linked with him in the past. He's a yard dog 🤣...except for this season when he's weirdly transformed into a top striker. Would you have wanted him at Everton before this season? I wouldn't have

He's consistently scoring 10+ goals every season in the premier league.

If that's happening then it's not down to buying in January and it being 'a risk', it's down to being ineffective in targeting players well in advance of it and getting value for money.

This business of "I'd rather we kept our powder dry for the summer" is for the birds.

There'll be no great value signings then because the game has changed vastly since Moyes was getting us Cahill and Arteta for 10 bob.
This was an opportunity lost, not a window where we dodged bullets.
Was Ndiaye a good value?
