Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Everton want to sign Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof in the upcoming transfer window, according to CaughtOffside.

The news outlet reports [16 December] that the Toffees are interested in the centre-back, who the Red Devils value at around £6.5 million.
Galatasaray and Juve are also interested..

Yeah on the one hand I'd love us to go for Rigg but realistically we're a team fighting relegation and IMO can't really be looking at players like that. He'd come at a fairly high price and would need some bedding in time. He's more a transfer for a stable mid-table club IMO. Dibling is a bit different IMO in that I think he'd get straight into our team on the right wing. Not that we can afford Dibling anyway like, I'm more just speaking theoretically.

I found it interesting that several posters didnt think it was a good idea.

Both players improve the squad and arguably they could oust Harrison & Doucoure.

It appears to me that certain posters would then prefer us not to go for the 'next Branthwaite' in various positions...

...they prefer instant averageness.

Which is what got us into this mess.

I wouldn't put them in the next Branthwaite category. They're already well-established first team players and would command high fees. Branthwaite was unknown and at a League 2 club and we got him for a very small fee.

Watched Sunderland the other day they had a kid called tom Watson had a really good game stood out a bit looked decent.
I saw him the against West Brom a few weeks ago and looked really lightweight. (he's only a kid)

Then noticed he bagged two, the other day. Suppose that's the learning curve you have playing young players

I dont think they want instant averageness

I think they realise that although the long term outcome can be beneficial in terms of finances and high ceilings.

There needs to be a a lot of factors for that to become a success and we need to lay foundations for that before we do that.
Plus young players can be massively inconsistent and prone to dips in form (Wharton)

How many players in the Premier League the same age as Rigg & Dibling are playing regularly?

Someone like Tom fellows would be afar cheaper, safe option

Rigg's form has dipped recently as well. We need to be careful that we arent signing the next Rodwell or Jeffers when signing youth players for big money.

Is it a heart condition per se. I know he suffered cardiac arrest but wasn't it caused by a collision, unlike say Marc Vivien Foe or Fabrice Muamba who had a congenital defect. Similar to Eriksen who didn't. I think he'd be worth a look, although didn't TFG sanction his loan to Fiore ? Might not see him as an option for us if so, or might do. No loss of equity by moving him to us as he'll be unable to "work" in Serie A with a defib.
Think he has a device fitted same as Eriksen .
They are not aloud in Italy.
