Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Nope.

I'm looking for stability.

If you feel stable with what has all the hallmarks of a manager hired to be here until the summer and owners who dont even acknowledge they own the club and haven't visited the place yet, then that's fine.

I dont.

I think it's becoming VERY noticeable to Everton supporters that there's no hands on governance of this football club and it's beginning to grate...especially when a window has just gone with almost zero additions to a squad that's screaming out for them.
We just won 3 out of 4 games following their first major decision. I don’t care if I never see or hear from them as long as they keep making decisions of this quality.

Moyes: on a football level maybe.

TFG: It's insulting if nothing else...a pisstake to send some nobody like Marc Watts to a single game.

I know before they bought the club we were all told not to expect much communication, but to not get ANY contact steps over the line of acceptability. A video message is apparently too much for them?

They're making people feel like their club means nothing to them.
That nobody is the President of FSG.

Why is it important to see the chequebook? Surely the pen that writes the cheques is good enough?

I said Moyes was (and IS) a mistake in terms of the credibility of this club - hiring a man with a terrible record of taking the piss out of this club, its fans and legends.

Moyes will get us safe. But then again Dyche would have too based on the previous two seasons.

IMO it was an over reaction to get him in, but Ilm glad we did now as we look the better for it...but that doesn't mean he's the solution for the club. We all know that he cant take us to success.
I don’t know that at all. And I haven’t heard anyone I respect question our credibility. That’s just your own ridiculous narrative. It only exists in your twisted broken mind.

Well that's obviously where we could do with a bigger squad in general, or at least have a much better pathway for younger players to take the step up if needed - just like they do across the park.

Injuries happen to everyone practically every season, such is the nature of the modern game.

It's been an issue for us for years and, once again, it all stems from upstairs.

Some teams have a bad year. Most teams in general have a couple missing for short term periods and maybe one unfortunate long term absentee.

Last year aside, we’ve been terrible with injuries for ages and its impacted so many managers. What might Ancelotti have done if he hadn’t have lost James Richarlison Allan at crucial points. Lampard lost 3 CBs to long term injury first game of the season. Silva lost Gomes Tosun Gbamin Delph to long term injury in same season. DCL’s availability has impacted loads of managers.

It needs to improve if we want to progress as a club at all. We shouldn’t need to have a 40 man squad every season and just expect we’ll lose a load of key players. When we sign someone new the first joke on here is that he’ll either be injured in the medical or get crocked straight away. Other fans don’t think like that.

other fans haven’t had to deal with half of our mess!

Can buy all the good players we want. If we can’t get them fit and on the pitch together consistently then it’s pointless. You look at who should be the long term permanent quality prime core of this squad of outfield players you can hang your hat on (e.g players in good age range, not academy kid, not older veteran etc. not loans or players who will be end of contract or on way out)

Patterson OBrien Branthwaite Mykolenko Garner McNeil Ndiaye Calvert Lewin

Probably supported by Chermiti Iroegbunam

This is the core of the now and the future, and how often have they really all been on the pitch together this season?

Patterson has been in and out fitness since he arrived. Branthwaite missed the start of the season, Garner has missed the whole season to date, and missed a lot in 22/23, McNeil missed the start of last season, and has missed a lot of this season, Calvert Lewin has had multiple issues.

When you think of the successful teams in the league right down the spine. Kompany Rodri De Bruyne Aguero/Haaland, Van Dijk Fabinho Firmino Salah, Saliba Rice Odegaard Saka

Most of these teams are keeping their core together most of the time (not so much Arsenal or City this season and they’ve suffered). Apart from last season we can’t seem to get all our key players out at the same time together.

Look at last season. 4th best defence based on the same back 5 being available nearly every game. Garner Gueye Onana consistently available in midfield. McNeil Doucoure Harrison behind Calvert Lewin. Consistency, patterns of play, confidence, leadership. You get all of that when you have fit players. When your first 11 is always loan players, veterans, subs swapping in and out every week you get the opposite.
