Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Everton are one of several clubs hoping they can negotiate a transfer bargain for Lyon midfielder Maxence Caqueret this month, according to GiveMeSport.

It was reported on 31 December that amid interest from Crystal Palace, Tottenham and West Ham, the Toffees are keen to knock cash-strapped Lyon down into a cut-price sale for Caqueret.
Pretty uninspiring it's another non scoring defensive midfielder.

If Kev feels comfortable dealing with Lyon bust a gut and get Rayan Cherki & George's Mikautadze.
Skill full , strong , quick and know where the net is . Cherki looks class whenever I've seen him and Mikautadze is everything our forwards arnt .Would transform our non entity attacking options.

Get on the blower Kev , Lyon shipping players out Orban gone to Hoffenheim today.

Yeah i posted about this earlier & its been mentioned on/off for a few days now.

Looking like £16mil all in which is around his book value. Would be ideal.
If we can negotiate it right we can manipulate PSR this financial year and his book price his book price next financial year.

We are doing something similar with Maupay.

For example:

For us yes. But as both are separate deals on paper the loan fee would need to be paid by Torino, before or during the loan.

I dont think they have the upfront money to do that. Surely it cant be allowed for them to pay 0 until the purchase kicks in, in summer -- then payments begin over his contract -- but the entire fee is classed as upfront for PSR during the separate loan?

Maupay is low loan fee and the PSR balance this summer when the obligation kicks in.

Beto i believe is circa £3mil then the PSR balance of £13mil this summer as well.

Broja Chermitti plus a new striker plus others needed
Time to move thread.
For me the most important area is a FB that can overlap, get behind the lines and put in decent crosses. It desperately needed. We don't have one up to standard anymore. Myko is the most overlapping when he's probably more suited to playing LCB, plus he's lost speed.
Dyche prefers Young to stay back, Patterson's an afterthought and Seamus has become like an extra on Extras.
I'd say Dyche wouldn't allow both FB going for it together anyway, so the focus should be the best FB we can get.
If that was to be the big spend, selling Patterson ain't going to cut it. Add DCL and getting closer.
Suppose the question is, would you sacrifice Beto as well?

Rumours are rife let's wait & see?

We can do anything we can do anything we can negotiate mate.

Deals like that suggested are becoming increasingly common..

As I say we’re doing something similar with Maupay.

Yeah it's is ha...but I can't be bothered getting into a whole debate about the manager.

The whole Dyche thing would put a glass eye to sleep.

It still stands to reason its pointless bringing in wide players.
Why. I don't think it's in Dyche's playback to have Harrison and Myko in attacking areas stinking the gaff out.

£20m for half a season of TAA puts any Dom fee into perspective. Given his lack of contribution, it would have been perfect if Chermiti hadn’t been injured to get rid of him last window. That injury was a disaster for Chermiti, but really with Broja being dead on arrival, we had no choice.

I’d still be ok with Dom going for a low fee, to save his salary and just force the issue of hooting it to him, and imagine him expecting a mega-deal whilst firing blanks can’t be great round FF

All due respect, but I don't agree with this. I think if we could grab Caqueret for cheap it would be a great bit of business. He works hard, is good on the ball, and has good vision. I also feel like he has goals in him and has decent attacking output. Cherki is obviously class but I bet if you wanted to get him you'd have to offer at least 30m.

Agreed Dyche is like the unflushable turd.

But in the past he did have Trippier & Charlie Taylor bombing on at Burnley.
I'm not giving him any credit here btw but no manager would have Myko trying to be Baines or Gashley with his Zimmer making constant forward runs.
It would be defencive suicide , like Sunday with Sosa & Elanga.

If this was the NFL where players are just traded like old horses without the chance to approve or block a move to a new team that might be an option. In this sport though, he's going to refuse almost any move, sit tight and take the contract signing bonus in the summer. Just as the RS will probably lose a few this summer too, we just have to grin and bear it and learn from it next time round.

Caquueret has scored 9 goals in 223 appearances and not all in top flight football.
So no he doesn't have an attacking output.

Exactly the type of player we do not need.
