Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Pretty uninspiring it's another non scoring defensive midfielder.

If Kev feels comfortable dealing with Lyon bust a gut and get Rayan Cherki & George's Mikautadze.
Skill full , strong , quick and know where the net is . Cherki looks class whenever I've seen him and Mikautadze is everything our forwards arnt .Would transform our non entity attacking options.

Get on the blower Kev , Lyon shipping players out Orban gone to Hoffenheim today.

All due respect, but I don't agree with this. I think if we could grab Caqueret for cheap it would be a great bit of business. He works hard, is good on the ball, and has good vision. I also feel like he has goals in him and has decent attacking output. Cherki is obviously class but I bet if you wanted to get him you'd have to offer at least 30m.

Caquueret has scored 9 goals in 223 appearances and not all in top flight football.
So no he doesn't have an attacking output.

Exactly the type of player we do not need.

Meaning no disrespect, but goals aren't the only measure of a players attacking output. You have to take into consideration things such as shots on goal, xG, key passes, progressive passes/dribbles, dribbles in the box etc. When taking that into consideration he places amongst the top half of Ligue 1 midfielders. What's more, he is quite direct with the ball, quick to dribble forward or look for a progressive pass. I'm not saying he's the key to all of our problems, but if he can be had for cheap then I think it's a smart bit of business.

Xg's you say

Have you seen our attacking output.

We do not need defensive midfielders.

I agree it’s not the main priority, but our midfield is looking a bit long in the tooth so if we can get a good young midfielder through the door for cheap then I think it’s smart business. I’m not saying he should be our only January signing or anything.

We have
Garner
Tim
Mangala
Gana

We are stocked there.

Cherki is the one we should be after.

Of the 3 on the linked list, Diarra would be next in line. Both players can play all across the 3 attacking midfield positions -- which is what we need.

Mikautadze and Caqueret would be good signings at the right prices. We definitely would benefit from both being in our squad.

Come the summer we lose so many players that its wise to get bargains / undervalued players in today...but to balance that with immediate needs.

If we had the money, Cherki, Caqueret, Diarra and Mikautadze get into our team.

Mangala is on loan isn't he? And Gana is mid 30s. The other 2 are currently injured.

We absolutely need a new midfielder

Indeed.

As it stands in the summer we'll have:

Garner (1year contract)
Iroegbunam (2year contract)
Armstrong (2year contract)

Mangala loan expired
Gana & Doucoure out of contract

….6 starters and 2 who came off the bench last Sunday are not contracted to be here next season. That’s a stark reflection of how the clubs transfer strategy has been managed.

Hahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahaha

Im still waiting for you to tell me how you do your shopping without any money ?

…..but the DoF is paid lots of money to manage the transfer strategy, even on a limited budget. As you said, the squad is devoid of quality

The bottom line is, is this the best we could ask for with the circa £100m that’s been spent, not forgetting the series of ineffective loans that have been brought in. No innovation, no obvious knowledge of global markets, no pace, no power, no quality just mediocrity.

The number of players out of contract next season is a massive concern, especially going into a relegation fight. It could make the difference in application and attitude if players are not going to be here next season, and even if we do stay up there’s literally 10 players needed next summer. What a total mess.

I think it was Leicester in a similar position when they got relegated.

You need to get back on your computer game, Zat, and come up with some lists

I think I'd really like to understand how a football team can:

A: Magically sign quality players with no money upfront?

B: Bring in loan signings that cost money, when they dont have any?

C: Perhaps you could explain to the forum why another club would let their best players join another club with ZERO incoming funds to replace them?

D: Not a single player out of contract in the summer should be extended. Nor at this point any of the stopgap loan signings. I wonder which of these players you are so desperate to retain ?

Are you going to explain how any DOF who has to sell-to-buy every single transfer window can achieve the above?

Or just post absolute nonsense with no base of reality and laughing emojis in response to facts.

You and Thelwell is akin to @davek and Patterson.

I'd probably have a giggle at your "computer game" jibes but you seem like youve lost your mind and from having probably 80% good posts...

...yours are now few and far between.

Edit: Youre coming across as a wealthy person who has never worked a day in their life...no concept of money.
