Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Caquueret has scored 9 goals in 223 appearances and not all in top flight football.
So no he doesn't have an attacking output.

Exactly the type of player we do not need.
Meaning no disrespect, but goals aren't the only measure of a players attacking output. You have to take into consideration things such as shots on goal, xG, key passes, progressive passes/dribbles, dribbles in the box etc. When taking that into consideration he places amongst the top half of Ligue 1 midfielders. What's more, he is quite direct with the ball, quick to dribble forward or look for a progressive pass. I'm not saying he's the key to all of our problems, but if he can be had for cheap then I think it's a smart bit of business.

Xg's you say

Have you seen our attacking output.

We do not need defensive midfielders.

I agree it’s not the main priority, but our midfield is looking a bit long in the tooth so if we can get a good young midfielder through the door for cheap then I think it’s smart business. I’m not saying he should be our only January signing or anything.

Why have no other players scored 15 goals for us in the last 6 or 7 years then? Or anywhere close (Richie aside).
Mate … he’s been our main striker for the last 6-7 years.

And your missing the point .

If you have Richy the same chances as DCL he would score more

If you give 90% of the first choice strikers in the prem the exact same chances as dom

They’d score more

So even when dom “does well” you know that we would still have more goals with another player… as his finishing is by far the weakest part of his game

We can do anything we can do anything we can negotiate mate.

Deals like that suggested are becoming increasingly common..

As I say we’re doing something similar with Maupay.

Ive never heard of a deal where the entire fee is paid for an initial loan...then the permanent obligation is for zero.

The reason being that would be the same as a straight sale!

As I said, the Maupay deal is totally different. Its a loan for this season for a small fee and then an obligation in the summer for it to become permanent

That kind of deal has been used for years in Italy.
