Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

I'm not reading too much into that. Let's say there is a plan, and PSR ability, to splash 100milion in the window it would be incredibly naive to broadcast this to potential sellers. Better to negotiate from a position of perceived poverty.

That said I don't think we'll spend much anyway as it's not a good time of year to do so. Keep our powder dry until the Summer transfer window.
just because we may free to spend 100m doesn't mean we should. If we've learned anything from the Moshiri era it's not what you spend but who you spend it on. It sounds like our big problem the last two windows has been cash rather than PSR and had we 30m available for down payments etc we could have signed first choice targets like Gnonto etc. i guess we haven't had the cash and we've missed out on deals that were there and ready to close. I can't see the Freidkins greenlighting a bunch of 50m signings, and until we see increase in revenue from the stadium and commercial deals actually coming in we still need to be cautious but the financial stability simply having an owner with the money provides, as well as the stadium build coming to completion - you'd hope this is the last year we operate on a league one budget. Also, you'd like to think the Freidkins will bring in proper commercial teams to properly maximize our potential.

…yep, no chance of a loan and I’d also be very surprised if he ends up in Turkey.
Its somewhere he would actually start games and play CL football, most of the other clubs he has been linked with he is a bench player coming on as a last throw of the dice option imo.

….he’s got a young family and I suspect that’ll also impact his choice.

These blokes have ego, he’ll think he’ll get decent playing time wherever he goes. He’s cosmopolitan so he might fancy a spell abroad. There won’t be a lack of suitors, it’s just how many will be able to meet his signing fee & salary demands, those will be well known within the game at this point.

Why on earth would we loan DCL with less than a year on his contract + hes a regular starter.

Love the randomness of Arsenal, Utd, Newcastle then ... Besiktas.
I think the Turkish clubs pay decent wages on free transfers don’t they ? Which might be why they’re there , I agree however no chance we’d loan and I agree it’s an extremely random link

That pretty much confirms what I was saying, if you think of £15m as a baseline then you're very much into the realm of spending hundreds of millions if you're trying to buy a dozen players. I don't know what we'll do, I'm just saying if we don't renew any of the contracts that run out etc it is likely to mean we have to spend £150m+ on new players just to have a functional squad. I have no idea how likely or possible that is, I just think it's what would need to happen in that scenario.

I've said few times, I think TFG will go in at around the 100m net, the same they did first season with Roma. Unlikely as you said that will be enough to get everything fully sorted by a way.

If Branthwaite gets sold of, then if they stick with the net 100m spend, you could be looking at 160+ overall spend

Still think he don't though, so yeah we will patch a lot of the problem areas but we won't get everything fully sorted season one, fully expect us to use the loan market aggressively as well, first season at Roma they brought in Lukaku for example on loan.
