Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

….the problem is, his achilles could be made of tissue. It’s dreadfully sad for the lad if his latest injury is a season ender but you wonder why Ipswich swerved him late in their loan bid. With the monies involved, we need to steer clear of players with particularly bad injury records.
Sadly he is made of glass - He & Harrison should be sent back giving a chance for two more loan players....

I don't think there is an mechanism by which we can send Harrison back to Leeds. He's essentially under contract to us for the remainder of the season.

KWP makes perfect sense to me. Plays both left back and right back, isn’t over the age of 35 unlike soon to be retirees Coleman and Young, and isn’t crap like Myko. Even Patterson’s future is still up in the air. £7m spread over a few years is nothing.
I’d be torn over this one. Yeah the amortisation is very low so we could do it within our PSR constraints. But he’ll be well aware it’s a bargain and his demands will reflect that. So could be an expensive deal over 3 or 4 years.

I’m sure we were in for Walker Peters not too long ago, £7million seems very reasonable in the market for an experienced prem full back that can cover both sides. Of course, a free signing in summer is even better but you wonder what the competition will be like - can’t imagine we’d be top of the list. As much as I like Patterson, his fitness is a question mark, KWP would be first choice on either flank if he came here right now.

I think Leeds would insist we either find him an alternative club who will take over the loan and pay the wages, or pay them some compensation to take him back. But it’s worth trying because there’s surely better domestic loans out there.

….both contracted until the end of the season, so we’re stuck with paying salary. I understand if Broja is out for the season we can drop him from our squad numbers and maybe get another loan in.
Broja another 3 weeks out with a sprained ankle they say send him back - Ipswich medical team made the correct call ....

Thing is him and his agent will know what the competition will be when he’s free so may be very happy to sit tight and wait for that bidding war. Bit like our DCL situation, club might want a small fee as better than nothing but the player might be best off waiting it out.
