He brought Stubbs back again after he left. Also brought in Kroldrup, Ferrari, Jagielka, Gardner, Heitinga, Senderos etc. to play centre back.

Maybe only Jagielka out of them i would say was quick.

Ferrari played right back and was actually a good player. Gardner and Senderos were squad fillers. Heitenga played alongside Distin who was physically imperious (Heitenga won player of the year I think). Kroldrup was a rare mishap but quickly corrected and he did the right thing by not playing him.
