Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

2 home, 2 abroad.

Been that way for a while I think.

Like I said earlier there’s no termination clause in our end for Harrison or Broja.
This comes up often and I wish there was more clarity on the issue as to how many total loan spots are available to Premier League teams. I am no expert, so please correct me if my interpretation is wrong, but the Premier League website indicates the following below (emphasis added in bold); it seems to apply to loans from other English clubs and excludes international loans. If loans from another National Association don't count toward the quota, does the loan total of 6 then apply (under FIFA)? A further article from 2023 (emphasis added) is linked/excerpted below for your information (so presumably the loan total of 6 under FIFA is in effect). Maybe the Premier League posting is more restrictive than FIFA, but it is difficult to understand since it seems to call out/exclude international loans. Please share your thoughts if you have any other insight, I honestly don't know the answer here.

Loans between Premier League clubs and other English counterparts are officially called temporary transfers.

Under the rules in the Premier League Handbook 2024/25 (Download PDF, size: 18.2MB), there are restrictions on how many players Premier League clubs can loan from other Premier League/English clubs.

They are:
- Premier League clubs may not register more than two players on loan at any one time.
- The maximum number of loans registrable in the same season is four, and, under no circumstances, shall more than one be from the same club at any one time.
- Premier League clubs cannot loan to another Premier League club a player they have acquired in the same transfer window.
- A Premier League club may loan not more than one of its goalkeepers to another Premier League club.

With the exception of Welsh clubs competing in the competitions listed under Rule V.6.2, loans from a club in membership of another National Association do not count towards the above quotas.

2023 Article:

How Fifa loan rule changes will affect Premier League teams

Also affecting the loan market this summer is a further reduction in the number of players clubs may bring in and send out on temporary moves.

From July, teams may only have a maximum of seven players loaned in and seven loaned out at one time – down from eight last season. It will fall to six next summer, although under-21s and club-trained players are exempt.

Who knew that they were actually good times?
Still makes me absolutely cringe and laugh in equal measure
