Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

The one thing no one seems to give much consideration to is the challenge of persuading players to come to Everton.
We are the ugly one hanging round the edge of the dance floor , and we’ve been there since the first record was spun.
We have to wait until the last song for everyone to get desperate ( and very drunk ) before we have a chance .

New stadium next season is a pretty decent reason

Preparing to hold talks means

“Do you fancy these players”
“Yes”
“Ok il drop Chelsea an email after lunch”

The fcuck is preparing to hold talks
I think you’ll find the answer involves getting social media accounts to float their names on the internet, so they will be reported on GOT, so we can tell them how terrible the players are.

It’s called ‘Everton Scouting’ lad.

Where did the Chilwell free transfer rumour originate? They paid £50 million for him three years ago, seems unlikely they’d let him go for nothing with 2 years on his contract?

You'd be making a left back with a history of injuries our highest paid player (by quite a distance). Thelwell has spend the past 3 years clearing the deadwood and high salaries off the books, makes no sense to start that cycle again.
I was just thinking he's spent so much time clearing deadwood yet here we are again with a squad almost full of deadwood. Amazing

What is a brilliant way to judge Thelwell?

Because the squad is absolutely diabolical, unbalanced garbage. It plays the worst football in the division and by the summer we’ll need to bring in about 10 new players just to fill a match day squad.

But people keep telling me I shouldn’t be judging the director of football on any of that.
If Thelwell hadn't done what he's done over the past two years, then we'd either be in the Championship due to further PSR penalties, or in administration (or more likely both).

The squad is terrible because of the constraints imposed on the club due to the pitiful mismanagement from Moshiri/Kenwright. I think he's done a sterling job given what he's had to work with - whether he's right for the coming rebuild I don't know, but we should be thankful for what he has achieved.

Newcastle " let's wait 6 months and get him for nothing"
Everton"NO! YOU MUST PAY US £15M FOR HIM IMMEDIATELY!!"
Newcastle "Jog on you idiots😂"

He's got to be pure profit at this point. Sell him for a few million. I don't think we will miss his 2 goals in 20 games that much. Plus, he will be more concerned with not getting injured to protect his payday this summer than actually playing football as the important matches come later in the season.
