Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

And the money on Maupay, Beto, Chermiti and O’Brien?

Even on ‘buy now pay later’ deals these have been awful let’s be honest. I don’t think they’ve contributed a point.
Seem to remember that lampard insisted on prem experience (maupay) when thelwell was pushing for guirassy? Could be wrong mind…

Just seems that while forward signings have been disappointing to say the least, thelwell has been hamstrung every way he turned along the way.

If we can somehow con Newcastle into giving us 15m for DCL, and we can pick up one of thier fringe players like Longstaff or Targett for a similar fee, thus allowing us more PSR freedom in the window, I feel it’s something we now must do.

The team has so many needs, they cannot all be completed in the summer..actions are needed urgently.
I would go for that and take Wilson if he is fit as well.
he is out of contract soon getting on but I would still bet on him well out scoring DLC

Anyone can shop with unlimited resource though. His job was to build on a budget, which he doesn't appear to have done well.
I do agree, but if his option was Harrison or nobody, which it may well have been, then it's Harrison, regardless of how poor he's been. He needed to pad the squad out with a limit pool of players. It's an unenviable task.
We need to judge him now he has a more settled structure to work with

I've honestly never seen the logic in buying substandard players. You may as well play someone out of position, or throw a younger player a chance. Out of over 100k professional footballers Worldwide, no chance Harrison was the only option.

I understand resources are limited, but that's the job he is paid to do. Harrison was poor last season, and Everton signed him again!

Is there a decent place to keep up to date with the day to day (lack of) transfer news? Since I got rid of Twitter I’ve been completely out of the loop.

Just reminiscing about the great Everton dudes if the past, namely the late 60s and eighties sides.

Both teams had at the core of it a group of young players who grew at the club with older experienced players guiding them through until those younger lads became the driving force.

66/67 side had the holy trinity Kendall (21), Ball & Harvey (both 22),

80s side was pretty much under 25 in the majority when they win the double in 85, and a good few of them had been playing 2-3 seasons by that point and matured at the right time blended by the older players still having enough in them to create the perfect balance (something year later Ferguson did at united with the famous never win anything with kids season).

As a club maybe more than any other we need to somehow get that blend back again and get a group where the club actually matters to them more than just a paycheck or stepping stone.

It's hard but it is doable - because we've done it previously...
