Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

2 very good shouts, however the cost would be huge, Southampton would be looking for €30M alone for Dibling.

Arse and RS already sniffing around Dibling.
Saints held out for top dollar for Lavia, will not let Dibling go cheap. The player's hardly screaming for a move as his boomerang to Chelsea left him rather jaded.

….woeful lack of attacking threat and passing quality across the entire squad. Buy good footballers regardless of your spend envelope.

Thing is the key to a good passing team is not only the ability to pass a ball 😂 weird to say that, it's about players moving into space to receive it, and having players with good enough technique and mobility to receive it and not take seconds to control it.

I'm this squad, Ndiaye and Lindstrom most certainly can do all of that, the issue becomes a few players who can't understand one any attempts at it, and also if the tactics and training does t work on it, then players don't do it as a team.

Stick Ndiaye and Lindstrom as the wider of a three and you'd see a lot more attacking threat mate even with the squad we have currently.

Problem is on any given week even if both those start (wide....) we have an attacking mid in any of McNeil, Harrison or Doucoure who are badly flawed in any at least two of the categories I said are needed (Doucoure in every one tbh)

Looking over the rest of the squad, Young can certainly pass a ball, as can Branthwaite (both CBs arent needed in truth as only one should be recieving it then moving it forward) Garner can pass, so can Mangala (albeit he's molasses slow) young Tim certsinly has those attributes.

We do have a core of technically good players who can play other than hoof ball tactics.

Lindstrom, McNeill, Ndiaye, and Harrison will guarantee no more wingers this seasons. Maybe get one when Harrison goes back but I wouldn’t trust Thelwell to pick a decent one.

Sack Dyche, send Harrison back to Leeds, play 3-4-3 with a striker and Lindstrom and Ndiaye split wide of them. Go out and buy a right and left sided winger with the engine and ability to play in that system - such as a player who has done successfully beforehand.

Play O'Brien Tarkowski Branthwaite at the back. As a three they could handle they system as it'd actually suits both wider CBS well with their size and pace

Funny thing is the player who in the threads got them most stick today was the player who created the most chances AND had the best passing accuracy ...

…whilst I understand that sentiment, Dyche in contract limbo is a concern.

There are too many key assets in contract limbo and although they’re all professionals, I’m afraid it makes a difference when the going gets really tough.

If TFG want change, I really think they should be doing it now at Manager/DoF level.

I agree, need to get a new manager in before January and the earlier the better, unless TFG are looking at his upcoming run with no ability to bring in players before hand and thinking it'd not be the best way to get a new manager off to a good start.

One other thing...if lets say we used Lindstrom at 10 he'd be next to Ndiaye and so they could combine -- also he could run past the CF as hes done in the past.

Using him and Ndiaye on opposite wings means neither happens.

Prefer a back 4 get some fb in jan and actually let them join the attack, problem is even the cm cant even keep hold of the ball. Id like even see ndiaye off the striker

I do t think we had e a fit for purpose natural winger in the squad, Harrison is garbage, McNeil badly flawed by being so slow and so one footed, and Ndiaye and Lindstrom aren't wingers, just Ndiaye has enough skill to produce enough to make people think he's good there, and Lindstrom has a great cross on him.

But you're losing so much playing them wide.

Our best CM in possession and passing is Garner probably followed by Tim, neither are gonna play cm much under Dyche this season.

The cm situation isn't helped by the fact often they have absolutely nothing available central in front of them , none of the players we play at 10 show for the ball

Or let them switch between positions. The rigidity of the 2 wingers and the AM is ridiculous.

Yeah dont really see how we can fix it in the bext window with this manager.

Simple answer, don't have this manager mate pointless bringing in players when he either won't play them or will play them out of position come what may.

Look at the players we brought in this summer.

O'Brien - stubbornly won't play him no matter what.
Ndiaye - crowd loving him forced his hand I still feel, but by God he's playing him out of position come what may and don't change that.
Lindstrom - only playing him begrudgingly when Harrison stinks the gaff out week after week, but again playing him out of position come what may.
Tim started the season with him, but consistently seemed to drop him deeper in the holding role which is quite clearly not a position he's comfortable in.
Mangala - playing him as the deeper if the two CMs when it's clear he's better as the more advanced as he isn't a holding mid.

That stuff combined with playing Garner ahead of natural right backs and playing Keane as a CF almost seems like he's either trolling the fans, doing some weird protest about how his hands are tied or is throwing a hissy fit because he didn't get players he wanted but got ones Thelwell brought in instead.

Think alot of it is short term thinking does not care about the long term development of players why you wont see patterson back anytime soon.
