Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Players with six months left on their contract can agree a free transfer to foreign clubs in six months time. DCL is such a player, and I expect him to do just that in January. I think the club that comes in for him on a free will be a big European club. Such negotiations can cause a club to accept a very low bid in January rather than lose him on a free in July 2025.

Dumfries is in the same position at Inter; I wonder if we could maybe do a deal for him? For those that don’t think DCL is good enough for Inter, they have just paid 8 million for a 35 year old Marko Arnautovich this summer, who also has a contract that ends in July 2025, just like DCL does.
This reads like you've copied and pasted he majority of the text, but changed the names to make it seem like it relates to Everton.

That’s bit harsh. Thelwell has actually bought pretty well on the hole. I think the business he has done has been the best since Moyes. It’s impossible to get every target right.
It's 50/50 for me in regards Thelwell, in terms of O'Brien Id actually like to see him get a run of games so we can see what he is like but that doesn't seem like its going too happen anytime soon.

12 players from our current squad will leave in June.

That clearly needs dealing with.

Only need two in according to Damo mate!

But in the real world, I'd say none of the out of contract players besides DCL are gonna be worth resigning.

Young and Coleman are finished, Keane and Holgate were finished before they started, Begovic is a glorified extra coach. That's five out the door with zero doubt or point in keeping any.

Doucoure can still contribute (although I don't rate him) but on his salary even with a substantial pay cut he's simply not worth the outlay, same for Gueye whose role seems to be diminishing and likely not much left in his kegs (and again a far too high wage fir shst he'd offer) - brings it up to 7.

DCL - if he signs and wages are within what the structure allows, obviously a no brainer, but doubt he'll sign now. So up to 8.

Then to the loans, Mangala buy out is way too high at 40m, also think it was a Textor led desk which I doubt he's gonna do any future favours now, Harrison even on another loan is earning 90k pw we are paying, again on s permanent deal absolutely no way he's worth close to that wage and a substantial fee on top. So now up to 10.

Lindstrom - yeah I like the lad, but unless he shows a lot more he's not gonna be staying in a permanent deal - if he dies kick on and show something lime his Frankfurt form hen he's worth the fee agreed.

Broja - no idea if we'll ever see the lad and if so how much and what he'll perform like. Complete guess but he'd have to show he's gonna be the starting striker to justify the fee agreed in the loan.

So overall a minimum of 9 will leave more than likely 10-12 gone.

Means we will need a massive influx of players by the start of next season, I quoted a number around what Roma brought in of 9, but in truth we could end up needing 11-12. Just to have a functioning squad that can deal with even a minor spate of injuries.

Hopefully it's funded with Jarrod being sold, but we are gonna have to really recruit well as doubt we'd sink more than 120m at an absolute maximum.

Do we really want to sign someone who has Spider Man headphones 🤔
