Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Main issue for me is that Levy is genuinely the type who'd rather see a big money signing leave on a free than sell them at a huge loss, can always blame the player running his contract down that way rather than admit you wasted money and recruited badly by selling cheap.
He might just have to swallow his pride with the pickle they are in right now but I'd imagine they will just go with what they have

Ya was saying during the game in the match thread that from todays performance that a Doucoure replacement was now the priority.

Only thing is with Garner and McNeil to come back, Garner could do that role even though I'd rather have him in cm as Gana and Mangala as a pair are slow.
Maybe McNeil back to LW and Ndiaye in the 10 role if Moyes isn't satisfied with the transfer targets this window.

I think Garner will replace Mangala actually mate. Doucoure sticks out like a sore thumb. McNeil is curious as don't see him suiting a Moyes side very well at all.

Yes we clearly are mate.

Guess the question is if he returned would the injury issues lesson with different treatment/training or is he just partially broken now.

DCL these days gives hope to the former, but history recently shows with sports science as developed as it is then a broken player's gonna stay broke...

Days of the likes of the fairytale redemption of Reid and Gray are 40 years ago in a different era

I mean that’s just a risk we shouldn’t be taking. It’s not like we’ll suddenly voodoo him into fitness.

Yeah the dreamer in me wants him back the realist knows it's almost certainly gonna be a mistake.
It's the type of chance you can take when you have a very good side already and just need to add a spark so can take a bit of a gamble, not when you have about 12 contracted players come the summer.

Literally thousands of players out there so no need to go back. Plus he plays where Ndiaye or McNeil plays and has never played central striker great. Not sure what he’d really offer for the fee.

McNeil being the best crosser of the ball in the team and the way Moyes has been saying he wants to get more crosses into the box I think he might move him back to the wing and move Ndiaye centrally.

Being honest, nostalgia mainly and a feel good factor.

But yeah reality is we need to recruit not factoring any of that fluff in

Could be mate, but it's interesting to see how the team works out shape wise now. Who we recruit also will change things up.

I don't see long term Moyes using McNeil as a starter though after he can recruit who he wants.

Pressure just eased slightly perhaps after the Spurs result.

Look, I’m sure most of us can relate to the temptations of our long-passed youth.

If we can somehow magic up this mooted loan for him, then I would be all over it.

The lad knows where the onion bag is and I think looks like a Moyes player.
I think he would do very well for us again.
Still only 27, a very talented footballer and clearly loves Everton.

However, it is a deal that won't happen.
As others have said Spurs cannot afford to lose a fit player at the moment.
Also, I don't think we could match the deal Spurs would need to recoup some of what we received for his sale and he probably is on a lucrative deal at Spurs.

Finally, Spurs may be looking for a new manager soon and Richarlison may be more important then.

Have to say whilst for the forum nerd in me it's frustrating, the lack of any genuine info on transfer activity is refreshing. Means we are running a tight ship and finally managed to stop the leaks of bygone years - which ultimately damages your chances on players.
