I would imagine a lot is hinging on Broja and what the up front cost is to send him back (if Chelsea allow us to) lots of very good talent in the league available on loan that would strengthen the squad and not just at Chelsea.
Surely, it's not as easy as that right?I really did think we'd have at least one in by now, considering Moyes said he wants in three.
We didn’t hate Sean Dyche last season - lots can change
I fear this is going to be scarily accurate..We really aren’t doing a thing til deadline day when we throw in a stupid nonsense loan with obligation offer for Gnonto which gets laughed out the room, and then end up scrambling around for Sean Longstaff at the 11th hour with a 50/50 chance of success.
He started 8 games that seasonGenuinely intrigued on what basis?
He's a player who makes things happen, gets shots away and is still very young. Pretty similar to Buonanotte. When Brighton were finishing 6th in 22/23 he was playing his part.
People could've just said it about Ndiaye last year at Marseille not breaking into a 8th place team in France but he just needed to go somewhere to start every game and far more to come from him under Moyes.
For a side in the bottom three this is a decent signing to go with Delap and Hutchinson imo. Ipswich problem will remain however defensively if Godfrey is going to be their "star" defender signing of the window, completely useless against Man. City.
Broja really was an awful loan. Thelwell gets credit for his persistent interest and eventual purchase of Ndaiye, but his hyperfocus on players has hurt us overall I think. He had a hard on for Broja since Richarlison left, he was never the answer. Nowhere near aggressive enough and an abysmal injury record. Gnonto is another example that didn’t happen but clearly we put way too much time into. The fact that we used one of our most valuable loan slots on a guy who wasn’t even fit for the first 3/4 months of the season is a joke. I doubt Chelsea let us cancel the loan- we will absolutely be paying for it (in more ways than one)I would imagine a lot is hinging on Broja and what the up front cost is to send him back (if Chelsea allow us to) lots of very good talent in the league available on loan that would strengthen the squad and not just at Chelsea.
When our outlay on right backs is probably around 260k a week, i think we need to get at least one off the books before we bring another untried/untested one inHow many are actually any good and able to cope with PL week in week out consistently....
Exactly my concern...planning. Something we are not very good at, and that will need significant improvement. With thelwell contract running out in the summer, who is going to plan?I'm more concerned about the prospect of a summer of 'dithering davey' given the numbers needed in the summer, simply won't have time for any of Moyes's time taking given players will need to be integrated and there is pre season to contend with. We need a plan and it needs to be ready to go as soon as the season ends.
I would imagine the Bournemouth groundskeeper disagrees with that. Not paying his wages until fit was smart but It’s turned in to an awful loan because Broja has become seriously injured again. I didn’t want him but he actually looked ok in his few first team appearances and far more suited to run around isolated up front than Beto… and then he kicked the turf instead of the ball at Bournemouth, which will be one of the very few enjoyable highlights for me this season under the tenure of the last dreadful manager.Broja really was an awful loan. I think there might be a deal to be done with Chelsea at the end of the window. Basically swapping Broja for another player and increasing our payments to them. They get another player in the shop window and gain a bit financially.I would imagine a lot is hinging on Broja and what the up front cost is to send him back (if Chelsea allow us to) lots of very good talent in the league available on loan that would strengthen the squad and not just at Chelsea.
Jep that's the point, I'd keep Begovic (3rd keeper probably wouldn't play a lot) and Gueye, as I see him still as a valuable option, not many people from the youth to fill up.With players out of contract, if no signings now in January, we may need something like 10+ signings in the summer which is crazy and would make the life of any manager very difficult to get the team going. We would need plenty of early signings and plenty of friendlies, something we are not very good at.
Or we are waiting for other clubs to get their replacements in before we can negotiate for our targets? It’s a massive domino effect!I think by waiting to long the clubs we are trying to buy from will not sell because they will say we do not have enough time to replace the one we are trying to buy.
