Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

The next 8 days will tell us everything we need to know about the new owners.

With a fully fit DCL and Mangala I could have seen us perhaps limp over the line but that would have been incredibly negligent had they not have added to the squad.

Now we've lost 2 players that start every game - we already desperately needed several players, so there really can be no excuses not to bring in at least 2 starting players, and at least 1 more for the squad that can grow and be a big player for the future.

Even without injuries we needed to be making signings as you can't bring in 12-odd players in one window (summer) and expect them to hit the ground running in the new season.

Looking at our entire squad I count 8 fit players that are at least the minimum quality needed for Premier League survival. The rest are miles off and a handful are out for most of the season.

Butters I’m not sure if you’ve been keeping up with events but we’re currently 7 points clear of the relegation zone with a game in hand.

It does seem like BK days when he seemed to use good results towards the end of a window to justify sitting on his hands. The injuries to DCL and Mangala are almost welcome if only for the short term if they force us to buy some players.

Somewhat agree as both players would need replacing in the summer anyway.

However, its the Beto 'trap'. Were looking to sign a centre forward who can deliver quality in the premier league with certain criteria to suit our team.

But were doing that with restrictions on loans and spending. Who will sell top quality to us?

Its not easy.

No excuse not to get a winger in (few linked), no excuse to get a midfielder in (2 Chelsea lads), can't see us getting a striker in. Will be grim watching Beto starting next few games (not a DCL fan though either)

Also, players have to want to come. Shouldn’t underestimate how much harder that makes it for us. Until we’re safe and look like a going concern once again, we’re not exactly an attractive destination.
