Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Dave, Bobble was on here yesterday and said if Dyche was still manager we would have had players in the club by now. We have some money to spend but not loads as there are still PSR concerns whether any of us like it or not. We all know what Moyes is like when it comes to the transfer market, a Sloth moves faster than Davie does mate.
Mate...He's been told this umpteen times.

It doesn't suit his narrative.

He's just rabble-rousing.

Davey can take as long as he wants, i trust him, even if we do little in this window.

If we've learned anything since 2016, its not about brining in players, its about brining in the right players.

I was encouraged yesterday to hear - he moth balled Nuamah, 0 point bringing in players that wont improve us, we've done that for years and tumbled down the table.

But lots of January transfers are done at the end of the window, across most of the clubs. Unless clubs (like city) are going to pay full whack, not sure we can put it solely at Thelwell/the owners door as it’s the same for most clubs.
Yes and for clubs like us and even Spurs at the minute thats another month of games gone!

We know what we needed in September October, getting whats available at the end of the window is basically the scraps and not what the clubs really want, but take them just for the sake of it (Panicking)

Literally everybody except you is buying it
No what you mean is you don't understand it so you don't buy it.

PSR was always a political act of spite when applied against Everton. That issue for the PL and government is gone now.

No one can calculate these PSR sanctions with any certainty. Have a go at applying all clubs who've been deducted points with their 'overspending' as opposed to those who avoided deductions with their spending. It cant be done if you're looking for it to add up.

It's now just a convenient excuse for parsimonious owners to avoid spending.

5 days left in a window when players should have been lined up to come in on Day 1.

….the problem is that any players lined-up were probably binned as soon as Moyes saw the ‘Gnonto list’.

As far as that is concerned, the timing couldn’t have been worst but I’d much prefer this given how poor our recruitment has been. 6 out of 9 points suggests we’ve done ok regardless of incomings but obviously the need to bolster the squad is greater after the Brighton game.

I’d much prefer a couple of effective signings now than more mediocracy 3 weeks ago.

Im more than confident we have enough now without a signing.

My concern is the summer were i have no faith in this DoF getting us 10 new signings which is probably what we will need.

Well this is what I mean, it’s just rumours. I don’t think anything concrete has ever come out about it - it could all just be fluff. No smoke without fire though.

Yeah hard to know for sure, he wouldn't be the first obviously and done went on to pretty decent careers even still with it (Fowler), guess the roll of the dice is can we get the lad grounded if it is indeed an issue with him, or is it just something that's become a Chinese whisper dogging the lad whilst he was out injured.

Could also have been him just handling not being able to play footy when out injured in a really immature way - and he was just a kid still.

Probably right that there's too much risk though...
