Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

….the problem is that any players lined-up were probably binned as soon as Moyes saw the ‘Gnonto list’.

As far as that is concerned, the timing couldn’t have been worst but I’d much prefer this given how poor our recruitment has been. 6 out of 9 points suggests we’ve done ok regardless of incomings but obviously the need to bolster the squad is greater after the Brighton game.

I’d much prefer a couple of effective signings now than more mediocracy 3 weeks ago.

We've struggled through 2.5 games of the 3 we've played. There's no renaissance here, and we'll struggle for the rest of this season.

We are desperate for players in.

And Moyes will have been tapped up well before Dyche was sacked. He's had time. Time isn't the issue: cash is.

Lets hope not, if so then why didnt they bin him off now because lets be honest he is getting paid for sod all.
He gets paid regardless. I'd imagine it was to keep a bit of stability and see if he does anything amazing. He hasn't.

The reports seem to be that Moyes is heavily involved in the transfers now, which is why we haven't seen much movement (as in he's just got here, not because he's dithering Dave). That suggests thelwell's goose is cooked.

If its Davey running recruitment Thelwells a goner mate.

….hopefully.

I suspect Moyes isn’t identifying targets but has given the recruiters a detailed list of requirements and they’ll be looking at who best fits given the spend envelope. One of the FF rooms might be like a call centre. I dare say we’re getting lots of agents calling.

Moyes will be discussing options with them and will decide on any bids. All my assumption, of course.

Yes and for clubs like us and even Spurs at the minute thats another month of games gone!

We know what we needed in September October, getting whats available at the end of the window is basically the scraps and not what the clubs really want, but take them just for the sake of it (Panicking)
I agree, we needed players in early. But apart from Myko and Patterson that time, we rarely do, like most clubs rarely do. And there will be an element of clubs waiting to see about injuries etc after the busy game period that’s just been, as well as waiting to see outcomes of various cup competitions that have matches through January before being willing to let players leave.

Now it’s been confirmed that McNeil is out for the foreseeable that intensifies the need to strengthen.

We could have got away with it possibly if he had come in on the left side allowing Ndiaye to push into the middle in the 10 role.

Him plus Garner and Tim would have e seen us ok imo, meaning we could have just gone looking for a striker and a RB and possibly LB.

Reckon we will be busy before the end of the window.

Dave, Bobble was on here yesterday and said if Dyche was still manager we would have had players in the club by now. We have some money to spend but not loads as there are still PSR concerns whether any of us like it or not. We all know what Moyes is like when it comes to the transfer market, a Sloth moves faster than Davie does mate.
sense at last

And to be fair 6 points from 9 has meant we didn't necessarily have to make panicked decisions. We need a minimum of three in though for me, midfielder to replace managala, striker to replace DCL, and a winger to add some quality. If Beto goes then arguably we need another attacker on top.

Liking him personally and wanting him gone are not mutually exclusive. Like Seamus retiring decisions need to be taken
I never mentioned about wanting him gone. So that’s irrelevant.

I suggested that liking him personally and calling him a gimp don’t really go together, do they?
