Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

1/ O'Brien is hardly proven at RB yet. He can do a stand in job but he is obviously a CB adapting.

2/ Patterson has in no away shape or form proven he can do anything like a competent job at either RB or RWB.

In short: RB was rightly prioritised this transfer window and we should be getting one in now.
You never said

Angelo Preciado looks interesting looks like he can play right back, right wing even midfield could be a smart pick up especially as a wing back

Chelsea, Leicester etc etc...all allowed to avoid points deductions.

There's no rhyme or reason to it.

Those clubs complying with it now are run by owners who dont want to spend. It's as simple as that.
You can't accuse the likes of Bournemouth, Brighton, Villa, Fulham all clubs that have spent money and there are others, but they stayed within the rules because they didn't have dumb and dumber running them. January is also an awful time to do business at any level of the game as you well know and we are still seen as a bit of a laughing stock by many so actually convincing players to sign is not as easy as you make out unless you think the answer is to throw blank cheques at players?

As someone has already posted - he has not returned from having knee surgery.

"With the surgery completed, attention now shifts to the recovery process for the right-back. Medical forecasts suggest that, if all goes as planned, Preciado could be back on the pitch between February and March 2025."

Would be absolute madness after the Broja debacle to sign someone who not yet recovered from a torn meniscus. Some really lazy journalism and social media rumours linking us with players we clearly will not be signing.

For me O Brien is good enough there to see us through until the end of the season and should help with set pieces too

Now it’s been confirmed that McNeil is out for the foreseeable that intensifies the need to strengthen.

We could have got away with it possibly if he had come in on the left side allowing Ndiaye to push into the middle in the 10 role.

Him plus Garner and Tim would have e seen us ok imo, meaning we could have just gone looking for a striker and a RB and possibly LB.

Reckon we will be busy before the end of the window.

Ndiaye is producing as is Lindstrom now in the roles wide, for me rather than bringing in a winger and shifting one of these central (so two changes) we need to absolutely prioritise a number ten (Salford Silva come on down), that and a striker (and huge misgivings but f' it I'd go all in for Ferguson on loan if we can wriggle out the Broja one or just take the PSR hit yo buy him outright and sort out compliance come June.

The work should be done but no way does Moyes want the same players as Dyche so it all has to start again really doesn’t it ?

We’re all frustrated but it makes sense , that said we clearly need players asap .
The manager shouldnt get a say or the DoF role is pointless.

No signings this January should of had Dyche in mind anyway, everyone knew he was dead man walking.

You can't buy players specifically for say Moyes, then in 12 months time he gets the bullet.
Then we get Fonseca for arguments sake and he comes in and says i can use him him and him.

This is part of the reason why we are where we are mate.

If managers are going to choose the players then be done with the DoF.

You need more than one choice in the wide areas though. Also we still lack pace
