Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

I think in general people are more open to moving and clubs are more receptive to approaches in the summer, so that's a pretty big reason. Personally (and I appreciate this is purely 'vibes' based on my part) I'd quite like the summer to seem like a proper fresh start, with new owners, manager, staff, stadium etc feeling like an opportunity to just start an entirely new chapter. I can't help having the nagging doubt that we'd appoint someone now who isn't really the answer and in the summer there will already be grumblings that they're on borrowed time and need to prove themselves after a poor January window/poor form in the run in etc, and ruin the whole feeling of a new era starting.

Fair enough.

It seems like they might want a clean sweep though, there are rumours circulating in regards to both Thelwell and Dan Purdy (Head of Recruitment) and obviously Dyche. Maybe they just want their people in which is fine but Id prefer they did that sort of thing in the summer not mid season.

Personally be surprised myself. If you recruit in the summer then you’re already behind the game in terms of planning. In any takeover you always want a degree of continuity even for a short time.

I suspect unless Thelwell has been told his contract is being renewed he will be looking for another opportunity right now. I know he was before the takeover was announced.

why would they renew thellwell?

surely it will be a total clear

McFadden was never a striker though. He was a player who played in behind but not really a no10, sort of a support role to someone else. It was the tactically clueless Moyes who threw away everything decent that Faddy had and tried to play him where he clearly didn't want too play. For me he was one of the first players who started to show up Moyes limitations as a manger.

McFadden was a dusty baller mate. Absolutely honking.

Continuity. There are 100’s of people employed in the footballing Dept and plans are sometimes done months/years in advance.

A scorched earth approach essentially pulls down the existing framework and you build it up from scratch. It’s a lot of work to that both from a manager point of view and a DOF in one bite, heading into a window. To much change to quickly can bring instability and be counter productive - ideally you always want some continuity.

Has a better chance than dyche imo will have to have talks witth them to see if he can match what TFG want at the club. Think the first real changes will be to make a change at the board ect to well improve the whole structure. I have no problem if he does stay or leave, dont think dyche was ever his choice and has had a hard time bringing in the players he has wanted at the club. Also is not an excuse at some of his bad deals here

ye maybe he may stay to IF the TFG like what he says etc

to me they will want they’re own man in every part

Agree but will be alot more for him to answer when they takeover wont be like it is now with dyche getting away with poor performances. The same with thelwell if he is not up to the standard they want he will be gone

Yeah can see both sides will be interesting to see what we do in the jan window. Esp if they do back thelwell and if they give him the money to get players he has wanted in the past like a gnonto ect. Just feel they will be looking st the board and all the behind the stuff first then be real talks about the playing side manager ect. Also can agree pre contracts in jan cant you so be interested to see if everton will be looking to agree some

Maybe you're correct but there is a fair bit of talk about Paratici who's ban apparently ends next June, he is only on restricted duties now. If it was to be someone like that we don't know that TFG haven't already asked him to give an overview of what he would do with us. We will have to just wait and see on this one I think.
