Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

We are just to slow at everything. Everyone knew we needed players before the 2 big injuries this week. That should have speeded us up even more. I expected us to have a player or 2 in to help for Saturday's game
We literally changed manager and owners in the past 3 weeks!

Our director of football only has months left on his contract, and I'm guessing the owners aren't sure on his patchy record.

Do you let the man with 6 months on his contract control the ship, or go for the choices of the guy with 2 & half years on his contract?

If I was Thelwell, i’d have signed Neymar on loan for the rest of the season on one of those Broja, only pay him when he isn’t injured, contracts.
We wouldn’t have had to pay him at all as he’d never be fit, but he’d be forced to sit and watch our inept toothless grindings for months as punishment for being an overprivileged diving cheat.

"Patchy record"

We probably have some spare funds in the budget for that now Deli has gone.

Mate how am I meant to explain numbers you have basically plucked out of the air.

Might I suggest you show your working out.

I'll try to simplify it for you.

It's called PSR and amortisation.

And yes the way it works is entirely bs, but it's a financial way of measuring income and expenditure which credits any incoming guaranteed payment as basically income from the moment the agreement is reached no matter the payment structure, and any outgoing payment as money spread over the length of agreement (players contractual length) no matter when the money is actually paid.

It's also in large part how Moshiri could blow through so much money early on as incomings outweighed outgoings using this system of measurement until they no longer could and then the house of cards fell down.

Because we don't have the funds to waste on a 5th striker.
You say Young can play there, but N'Diaye can play upfront if desperate, I'm pretty sure Doucoure could be put there in a Fellaini sort of role, you then have Sheriff who has made the bench also.

What happens if we sign another striker as a panic buy, but Beto is fine for 4-5 games and then Chermiti is back, we have wasted our time on resources on a 5th Centre forward
You keep banging on about how we have 4 strikers . 3 are out injured and don't look to be returning any time soon. Beto doesn't look like he suits the Premier League and even if he does get a run in the team then he can't be expected to play 90 minutes in every game until the end of the season. Doucoure up front? You can't be serious, he's a liability in his favoured position as it is.

I'm interested to know which positions you feel that should be strengthened? We absolutely could do with several positions but we can't do that until the summer. For me a Striker is the number 1 priority then it's a winger or someone who can play Doucoure's role . We need goals and someone who can assist .
