Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

I’ll be honest in saying I’m getting a little concerned over what’ll happen on deadline day. Not necessarily just because there’s no links, but just the language being used and the change of plans/priorties that the injuries would have caused.

In my head, a reasonable window that we could hope for is say, Igamane for £12/£15million, Marcus Edwards (I know this one is not happening but I dream) for a loan with obligation. Then you may have the chance for a Walker-Peters if the price is right. I have fully given up hope that Broja’s loan will be addressed. Make no mistake, he is Thelwell’s number one target in summer.

Getting 2 deals over line is a big ask, I fear 3 is a step too far.

No to all.

Yes it's weird
Just very disillusioned with it all mate, years ago every team had a chance of signing good players as it was more of a level playing field. Now, there’s a small number of clubs who can sign the top players and the rest of us have to squabble over the crumbs of whatever is left…. And I can’t see that changing anytime soon.

I know how PSR works.

I want to know how selling Beto for 18m generates 50m.
Not sure you do actually
Wheres your £50mil popped up from?
Ok first time for everything replying to you two together 😆

Gonna make it pounds to make Peteblue happy.

If we loan a player for a 5m fee as reported, that goes onto our books right away as income.

If we spend money then the money spent is divided out evenly over the length of the contract.

Now remember it is January not June, so for the current season anything spent in transfers now counts only as a half season NOT a full season amortisation (book charge)

So we buy a player for 45m, how much on the books does that figure count for. It depends on the length of contract, so for arguments sake let's use a 4.5 year contract, this season we will be costed as .5 year or 1/9th of the total cost. 45m/9 = 5m.

Which is the same as the payment on the books received for the loan.

So a 5m.inconing amount allows an outgoing amount equal to 5 times the the number of half years in the contract.

Yes next year we will receive no incoming book payment but still have a costing of 10m charged to that years books so it's not long term sustainable to do this, but short term it allows for much increased spending as per the rules and regs.

It wouldn't generate £50m, it allows the club to spend £50m without breaching PSR limitations.
Assuming that TFG have put £50m in for Thelwell/Moyes to spend and that bluestevon's sums are correct.

I corrected the figure down to 45m as the contract would be more like a 4+1/2 year one mate.

And as I said initially - ofc it doesn't make the money appear out of thin air, it's purely an accounting and regulatory sum. It just means that TFG can spend that amount of they wish to fund the spending.

That's quite an amount of assuming.

Check away.

I agree with you, but it really shouldn't be that difficult to get 3 deals done. If Forest can manage to get over 20 done a few windows ago, then surely we can manage 3 at the least. I still hold some hope for 4 or 5.
