Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

So if Ferguson follows Onana’s example, and chooses Everton over West Ham, it’s actually because he’s only ever been West Ham’s third choice of strikers that they probably won’t even sign, and not because the player views Everton as the better destination… gotcha!

People really need to stop pretending that Everton are the ugliest bloke on the dance floor when it’s just not true!

Our own manager turned down an extension at West Ham less than a year ago, and has now returned to Everton, which he couldn’t do quick enough!

West Ham have since sacked Moyes replacement less than six months into his new job, and they sit a whopping four points above ugly old Everton having played a game more.

Utter bs anyone saying we can't compete with West ham for players.

They qualified for the EL and ECL about twice/three times won the ECL fair enough the European version of the simod cup though in reality. They only have money due to being subsidised on the stadium which is a horrendous ground as well. They won't be in Europe next year for certain, they have a manager who could be decent but could also just as easily implode under pressure.

They are a media favourite with a media favourite manager, and since when does anyone care really anymore about what the media says.

Potential in Everton is astronomically higher than it is at London's 4th team.

Ferguson and Carney would definitely bolster our attacking line up.

Providing both are fit and ready to go soon, then this would really help us.

Tim and Garner coming back is going to help with CM (also Doucs is an option for dropping deeper). Down the right we now also have options with O'Brien, Lindstrom and hopefully Patterson getting gametime.

Young can be a back up LB and keep NDiaye fit (Or whenever McNeil is back for back up).

This would comfortably be a mid table squad and a good start for steadying the ship.

If Moyes taking time means we are getting players who he deems are a good fit and have the right sort of personality for Everton and not mercenary's just after a pay check, I will not panic yet. I think it is a good thing after the decade we've had of buying tosh.

Gets annoying honestly

Ok we've been gash now for years - especially the last three.

But we now have new ownership, the financial issues at the club are in the rear view, we are about to move into the new ground which will be one if the best stadia in Europe. We also have almost a once in a lifetime situation of being able to completely rebuild a squad without various leftovers cluttering the process - a complete reset in so many ways. And we will soon have a complete competent restructuring from CEO on down, top it off with a manager we know is capable of putting together a solid respectable upper table side over time.

So if we're linked with the lines if Ferguson, Diarra, Chukwuemenka, Mcatee (yeah I know we haven't been yet) or any other talented young player who are in demand then why the hell can't we expect to compete and win the race to get them in, if f we can't convince the agents and players then it's down to the person giving the pitch not the actual thing being pitched.

West Ham only really have Fulkrug as a #9 and he's likely to be out for most if not the rest of the season. Antonio will probably retire after his car crash that caused serious leg injuries whilst Danny Ings is out of contract in the summer.

Ferguson would regularly start until the end of the season for West Ham by which point he will have either proved his worth or not.

West Ham still had Rice when Onana signed for Everton. They also had the likes of Soucek, etc so there was no guarantee that he would start every game like he did at Everton...well until Dyche took over.

Add in that Potter used to manage Brighton so he might have a positive relationship with the player who may also prefer to play in London.

Once the club start winning more games in the new stadium (hopefully in the Premier League) then Everton will become a more attractive proposition again for players. The style of football under Dyche will have surely acted a a deterrent for some players as well. Again, over time that stench will wear off.

I view West Ham as a bigger draw for players at this time but if Everton avoid relegation then I would expect the summer to open the club to a whole pool of players - new stadium, finances in place, manager with proven premier league experience and of improving players, big fan base with an illustrious history, potential for decent spending power and objectively a club that really should improve enormously on how it has performed over recent years.

I actually think annoyingly West Ham are a bit of a draw, just won a trophy etc. The reality is if we win our game in hand we are above West Ham, so honestly the two teams are not miles apart.

The best hope.we have, ja their owners basically mess it up, which they could do. It seems like there's lots of people involved in West Hams process, and they're not always aligned. Also they do have a tendency to do stupid things like make derisory offers. That would definitely open the space for someone else to move in.
Just won a trophy you say... Get that manager in then

Where's the urgently-needed signings' money, Dan?
The money will be available to spend, within the constraints of PSR.

They aren't going to jeopardise their Premier League asset by putting the club at risk of future point deductions, especially if they are incurred for signing someone just because they are available this window.

Now that it's already very late in the window, I wouldn't be surprised if tomorrow's result has an impact on our deadline day spending

I think we need players regardless, but I wouldn't be surprised if a loss increases our urgency to possibly spend a little bit more. Whereas if we can get 3 points, maybe we might just go for 1 player and try to preserve budget for the summer.

Not sure I would agree with a strategy like that, but I could see tomorrow factoring into how we go about the last 2 or 3 days.
