Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

They are doing the bare minimum, pump a bit in and lets push on but we will fight for 14th-17th, some ambition that!
Course we will fight for those positions. They came in mid season when we couldn’t win a game. So then sacked the manager. There’s no point saying we want Europe this season when half a season had gone before they could do anything. We aren’t getting Europe so it’s irrelevant where we finish from 8-17th.

January windows are crap, players cost more than they should and the ones available tend to be the bang average players, injury prone players or players with issues. Wasting money now for the sake of it means the rebuild in summer is harder.

This season, because of the crap football during the first half of the season under a different owner and manager, is all about getting safe. Then we show the ambition.

One fit striker...

One LB...

The players are there if you have a competent recruitment team, Thelwell has to go, too many times he has left gaping holes in this squad, seems like every window he fails to address the real issues...

This is why Everton will never be anything than mediocre, we will never win a trophy or qualify for the Champions League in the next 40 years.

Small club mentality!
This statement is also true for many a poster on here…

Moyes did sound confident of bringing in a couple at least, even when he was downplaying the quality of them. Be interesting to find out what changed.

Loads on here thinking Beto is a world beater becuase he got 2 against Leicester CBs who are Championship at best..... probably only gets 2 or 3 for the rest of the season against proper teams.
Literally no one on here thinks Beto is a world beater  - some of us think he'll get more goals than DCL if we plays to his strengths. That's about it. If we could sign a decent forward no one is going to complain because we need some cover. Obviously we can't find a forward to sign who fits that bill and that we can afford.

I`ve made peace with being crap, we will always be because the club will do the bare minimum to appease fans and the fans will never push the club to be the best they can be, look at tonight everyone just accepting we have 1 fit player in quite a few positions. Exactly why this club will never be ambitious like Villa or Newcastle...
Mate we are literal WEEKS into new ownership.

Not being held to ransom for mediocre crap in Jan could easily be construed as a shrewd opening gambit by them and the recruitment team. Of course time will tell over the rest of the season, but we absolutely can’t know what plans they have for summer and beyond so I’m gonna elect to believe the most obvious explanation, which is that they’ll spend to massively improve the squad and boost their ROI.

I was frustrated at them bringing Moyes in and I’m frustrated now but this is firefighting. This level of crapness wasn’t achieved overnight or in 1 window and it won’t be solved that quickly either.
