The coungter might be we want to sign better players, and the only options available to us tend to be in their mid-late 20's.
I said this a while ago, we can’t get the best players at the perfect age. IE 24 to 27. Like if grealish came on the market, he isn’t coming to us, even if we could afford.

Things may change now we have Ancelotti, and of course champions league football would. Also help.

We have unfortunately bought the players at that age 3/4 levels below. And like you say we can only really attract top class players, when they are nearing the end of their careers or you buy 19/20yr olds with huge potential and hope they work out.

Personally moving forward if that’s what we have to do, then I wouid be all for it. A team of 29/30 year olds Top class players. And the rest 19 to 22. Let’s stop buying average players at 24/25 for big money

Should of bid big for grealish before the season kicked off, now he’s proven to be a consistent performer in the PL and a England Star we have no chance. Godfrey stands out as the big up and coming signing for us.

Maybe but I would of 100% signed Callum Wilson. Our options are terrible after Dom and Richy. Even if we’d kept kean I’d be saying this
The thing is at 28/29 or how ever old Callum willson is, he’s not coming to sit on our bench.
He wants to play and I’m sure he’s hoping he makes the England squad for the eruos.

Spurs have been playing champions league football for the previous 4 years and still struggle to get a quality back up for Kane

Yes I get that with 2 or 3 ie. Allan, James and Doucoure but when it's your consistent policy it doesn't appear to me to be a way to have any sustainable success.
Liverpool have done it by buying smart, targeting players at around 24 or 25 specifically, for not astronomical sums

Well a couple of points really. Firstly Doucoure is 27, so only a couple of years older. But aside from that, they are regular CL qualifiars, so people will move their at 24/5 for their main part of their career. We are not, so it's much harder to attract the same players.

They also pay a lot in nonuses and agents fees to get eals over the line that aren't declared, and pay enormous wages.

We have also done similar with Digne, Zouma, Mina, Gomes, Bernard etc. We have tried to do similar, but because we are not shopping at the same table we have had variable success.

Tbf mane, firmino, jota etc is not exactly the top table so it's just smarter recruitment
