Everton January transfer window 2021

Im not wholly closed of to the idea mate, id be interested in a prgressive Branthwaite signing or the like, that would excite me more then a Milik. I can see the sense in someone like King, as cover and being versatile but id like to player trade there and the deal has to be enabling and improving. For example Tosun out and a nominal fee for King given his contract situation, that would be an upgrade. I wouldnt be backer of Khedira myself, the juice isnt worth the squeeze in my opinion. Xisco, i see us having a sniff when Gylfi leaves in the summer, again player trading. Again all not necessary in Jan.

I think we are in a position now of building and developing, incrementally getting stronger as a team and a squad, i just dont mean buying players but players developing and improving but also as a team. I think many of our players are kicking on, our injury situation is improving. I see exposure of our current players and development as a key next rung, its happening, i just wouldn't undermine it, i think we are fine - if a deal like King makes sense and we shift a cold body, fine but i honestly not to bothered if we sit on our hands, in fact i hope we kind of do.
It's all about player trading effectively really isn't it. If we can player trade some of the deadwood in Jan then why not - the sooner they're player traded out the door, the better.

Are we working on any deals?

It is blatantly obvious our quality is rather bad outside the starting XI, why arent the club working on any deals to join us when the window opens?

We will probably dither all month and make some signings towards the end of the window, probably when it is too late.

This post is incredible.

  1. It starts with an admission of total ignorance about whether deals are being worked out or not
  2. Then it quickly decides that the club certainly aren't working on deals and demands an explanation as to why
  3. Then it concludes that the club is probably dragging its heels and will make crap signings at the end of the month
What a rollercoaster

Wouldn't bring anyone in to be honest, id take a Branthwaite signing alright, but nothing for the first team.

Areas id strengthen but not until the summer are full backs and the flanks. I think we could player trade Gylfi and Bernard and look to improve, Bolaise will be a distant memory then to. Possibly upfront but id be hoping not to loose Moise and that would dictate that.
I would normally agree with that post. However when I look at the league table I see an unexpected opportunity to qualify for the champions league next season. We are incredibly short of numbers for the front 3 positions, and just bringing in one quality player to provide cover in that area could prove the difference between finishing top 4 or not. I think it's worth the cost of the January window premium.

Theres no value in winter windows.

So I can assure you we wont match the Summer window.

Obviously there isnt but if a you have to pay over the odds to get you CL football, is that not worth it.

With the lack of squad depth I think these players will burn out towards the end of the season.......

It is really we haven't always been good at it mate, we have Besic and Bolaise still on the books sucking the life out of us not even in our PL squad. The way i look at is these our squad places and resources, its nonsensical just building layers of new players wall papering over cracks. No doubt we can trade better on their positions when the time comes and make those positions purposeful again.

I keep reading we have poor squad depth.

We don't, we have numerous players for every position.

Quality-wise outside the first 11 we stink, but depth-wise, we have lots of bodies.

I mean we currently have 8? injured players.

Asking questions, hence the ?, not a statement.....

I am in no way ITK, but some on here do have some good knowledge close to the club

Just not competent enough to close any at the time we need them.... Im hoping we can follow up the last window with one as good, but this is Everton Football Club we are talking about!
Winter window deals tend to be panic buys of whoever is available at inflated prices. Generally not worth it as the quality needed is not generally available.

I can understand where everyone is coming from mate, im not closed minded on it. I just dont believe in it myself.

We have made decisions already really, we sent Moise of for the year, rightly or wrongly, i happen to think wrongly myself, but if we are short up front or we dont have faith in Tosun, its our own bad decision. Id have 0 interest in bringing in someone like Milik to be honest. I think you could make a case for King - who is a good player, if the cards fell the right way.

Personally id sit on my hands, unless King and a Tosun deal fell into our laps. Though id love a progressive Branthwaite or Neils style signing for the future

Would everyone accept not making any decent additions in January? Because I dont believe that. I reckon there will be fume if we get to the end of January and not making a single signing, especially if results tail off again and we drop down the league. Dont forget only 4 points of 9th with a few teams having games on hand over us.
