Everton January transfer window 2021

Only thing I can see us doing is selling Bernard and bringing in a good winger on loan with obligation to buy in the Summer window. Cost of the loan will be the price of Bernard's transfer fee.

What are you thinking mate?

As i said i above i dont like the Jan market, i honestly dont think we need anything, id look long term at the full backs and flankers in the summer. Maybe if Tosun went we would look at a striking replacement on loan, but the deal would have to make sense.

Id be a bit disappointed if we brought anyone else in if im being honest, think these players are developing, fulfilling potential and earned the right to have a tilt. Think the squad is fine, with players returning.

I think in the broad sense, it's a bad market. It's halfway through a season and a tighter market, which will both be factors in driving up cost. I agree with Brands on that. It's also been good, to be honest we've not done business. 2 years ago we went on a good run and Calvert Lewin emerged as an option. Last season we saw Brainthwaite and Gordon being given exposure (though we did sign one). It's been consistent and good what he's done.

I mean there are some differences this window. We are likely to go into the January window in the top 4, for the first time under Moshiri. We are within 3 of the title. It's a long long way off, but christ it's nice to dream. I think Moshiri dreams too.
He also has a manager now who dictates transfers far more. He has enormous currency now too. To a degree we have a Brands plan and a Carlo plan.

Finally, I do think in January, you can get caste offs for cheaper, particularly in the wider context of football now, and enormous financial pressures.

It would be the wrong time to look for long term solutions (so I wouldn't do RB I'd give Holgate a run). The question will be, are there some areas where short term cover will be helpful, and also where younger players are on Brands radar that will only go up in price come the summer (particularly in France). I could see a bit around those themes.

I've said above, I'd take a chance on Khedira. Pay what we are happy to pay, and you would probably get the deal. I think he'd help Gbamin be eased in, and will probably also help Davies a lot to learn from. Someone like a Milik/King if Tosun goes out could be interesting for depth too, and not too expensive. I'd also have a look at Xisco, a class player. Again with all 3 the deal has to make sense, and the liklihood of getting all 3 is low.

Brands will keep doing his stuff in the background, who knows what leverage we may have over French teams. It was sensible prioritising that area from him.

If nobody comes in, thats ok. It takes people time to adjust anyway (though that is minimised with more experienced players). But I mean, if we could add the 3 names above, and they hit the ground running, things could get very interesting.

Suspect you are all alone in thinking we don't need anybody.

We certainly need an attacking option, cos outside of our first 3, the rest are utter garbo.
Yep, need forward or attacking player for me, had a miracle really with Lewin not getting injured till now and playing all
While we are doing so well now is the time to get the deals done for me,and not have this thing you hear that not many big deals happen in Jan etc,
If we have a bad run over the comming weeks you can bet a cert that many will say we missed a trick and so on not getting people in

1 good player who can make a difference in the final third. We should never go big in January windows but finding that extra player to help can make a big difference. Especially since there are still about 5 more games left at this stage than a normal season.

The worst thing we can do is not be active in the Jan market, We have to get bodies in, Our squad is threadbare, Even some loans will suffice, Our bench option is lobbing a useless Cenk Tosun on.

Talk of spending 50-60m on the likes of Leon Bailey is madness.

There should be a few players we could pick up on loan.

Didnt know there was any talk, then again because we were,or have so many players linked to us, ive tried to take no notice of anything for weeks, untill we got closer to now lol

There isnt really, apart from a few mentals in here suggesting the likes of Bailey, the Sarr fella at Watford and the Neto fella at Wolves.

All of which are costing 50-60m.

Im not wholly closed of to the idea mate, id be interested in a progressive Branthwaite signing or the like, that would excite me more then a Milik. I can see the sense in someone like King, as cover and being versatile but id like to player trade there and the deal has to be enabling and improving. For example Tosun out and a nominal fee for King given his contract situation, that would be an upgrade. I wouldn't be backer of Khedira myself, the juice isnt worth the squeeze in my opinion. Xisco, i see us having a sniff when Gylfi leaves in the summer, again player trading. Again all not necessary in Jan.

I think we are in a position now of building and developing, incrementally getting stronger as a team and a squad, i just dont mean buying players but players developing and improving but also developing as a team. I think many of our players are kicking on, our injury situation is improving. I see exposure of our current players and development as a key next rung, its happening, i just wouldn't undermine it, i think we are fine - if a deal like King makes sense and we shift a cold body, fine but i'm honestly not to bothered if we sit on our hands, in fact i hope we kind of do, like i said earlier i think these group of players have earned the right to have a tilt at Europe.

Are we working on any deals?

It is blatantly obvious our quality is rather bad outside the starting XI, why arent the club working on any deals to join us when the window opens?

We will probably dither all month and make some signings towards the end of the window, probably when it is too late.

I don’t want any stop gaps on three year deals. It holds us back in the long run. I would rather not buy than go down that alley.
if we do bring anyone in, then a half season loan for an experienced player from a big Spanish club would be ok. (Maybe longer if they are worth it) They seem to have suitable available.
If we do buy anyone, they need to meet the longer term squad development requirements.
I’d rather no one than a mistake.
