Everton January transfer window 2021

England players, because of who they played for, not because of their talent
You have to admit they were slightly talented

Didnt alli scored 46 goals in 146 games in his first three seasons at spurs

When was the last time we had a midfielder produce those kind of numbers? Cahill?

Also lingard was known for scoring in cup finals and turning up in the big games. Given that we haven’t won a derby at anfield since the Kevin Campbell days we could do with a big game player.

Yes Ali was and probably still is a great goal scorer. Not that great outside the box, very overrated from a technical point of view.

Lingard is utter pants. Played in the Worst Utd team in years. And plenty of crap players have scored in finals. I wouidnt take him on a free

But what if both those players dont adapt to the Prem?

Arsenal fans would have said the same over Zaha "madness what Palace want for that money we could go get that Pepe lad who's younger and scored 25 goals in France"

Spurs could have said the same RE Doucoure and went for Ndombele.

More often than not the flavour of the month signings from oversea's often dont hit the ground running which is what I would want if we are signing someone in January to help us seal a top 4 finish.
This is judging outcome over process. Sure there are endless amounts of players that can be given as examples of not being worth their investment. However that is most common when a signing is rationalized with present impact and removed of value which Zaha would be. In both examples of Pepe and Ndombele, they weren't widely considered value propositions, despite seeming good signings. Both so far have been below their expense, but the transfer fee was considered market rate or inflated, not frugal. To me those signings were maybe rationalized by being future oriented but the value wasn't indicative of that. Thats comparable to how some might rationalize Dele Alli. Its possible value, but likely market rate for a player who however tantalizing isn't likely a ceiling prospect or presently impactful. With that in mind what are the grounds for its justification?

This is the simple point, Everton cant afford to have half of its most important players being stagnant or depreciating assets. FFP, more attractive and successful league counterparts and sustainability with inevitable outbound transfers are all reasons.

Havent you constantly brought up Bruno at United as an example?

There are exceptions to the rule but I dont think we can realistically throw £60+ million on players playing in plumber leagues like Portugal, Holland, Turkey or certainly not until Uncle Uz gets the juicy naming rights deal on the new ground pumping into us.

If we are spending that sort of dough its more beneficial for us to be doing so on a proven prem player like Grealish/Wilf or someone whos done the business in the CL/better leagues imo.

That's why I like him there; he will learn from Allan.

You can teach somebody how to read the game and to be better in that position but you cannot "teach" pace, athleticism and aggression which Ben has already.
It's hard to teach someone how to be technically good enough to play midfield when they aren't at age 22 though

It was summer 2019 mate.

You think it'd be a bad fit, I'm not sure why, but I see a player with bags of quality who'd come in and let us play several systems, whether as a starter or not.

However, there are those types of players available across the continent too, and for cheaper. But we need to go and get one.
I appreciate you see it different but I'm concerned about how casual you seem to think spending 50m on someone not guaranteed to start would be. We've got money but not like that.

But our ffp has been wiped by moshiri investing the money he did 2 weeks ago. So the kean and richarlison money hasn't been spent at all. I know that was mainly done to help secure funding for BMD but it has wiped the ffp too.

Personally I doubt we will buy anyone in January unless someone fantastic becomes available or a decent loan comes about but I do think that the money is there if it is needed.
Im not convinced our FFP has been wiped by Moshiris injection.

It surely cant be as easy as that.

I'm no expert on ffp but are you sure? Having an owner throw money into the club seems an unlikely way to bypass the ffp rules

To me it doesn't matter if they cost £20m or £40m - doesn't mean one should start and the other should definitely not. Depends on the game.

No successful side can build on 11 players. Of any team that has done anything of note in the last few seasons, Leicester are the only one that managed to fluke an entire season keeping their first XI fully fit.

There should be no guaranteed starters. It should be horses for courses and on merit. The more competition, the better.

If we could call on someone of the quality of Bailey as an alternative to Rich, for example, whether as a sub in one game and then starter in another etc, we could be a real force to be reckoned with.

We're also acting like we never have injuries. Our four best players have been out over the last few weeks.
