I get what your saying mate, and every player we bring in young or old is a gamble as we all know too well. I don’t pretend to know anything about Cavani’s character, but Costa always comes across as a big sulky get! Carlo has just nailed the squad attitude and I would be extremely nervous about bringing in somebody who seems to be so tightly wound! Diego is the type you would always be on eggshells,with if you were on the lash with his, and you would always be wondering at what point in the evening he would kick off on somebody!

To me it doesn't matter if they cost £20m or £40m - doesn't mean one should start and the other should definitely not. Depends on the game.

No successful side can build on 11 players. Of any team that has done anything of note in the last few seasons, Leicester are the only one that managed to fluke an entire season keeping their first XI fully fit.

There should be no guaranteed starters. It should be horses for courses and on merit. The more competition, the better.

If we could call on someone of the quality of Bailey as an alternative to Rich, for example, whether as a sub in one game and then starter in another etc, we could be a real force to be reckoned with.

We're also acting like we never have injuries. Our four best players have been out over the last few weeks.

I just don't think our first XI is good enough to spend that kind of money and not have the player be clearly someone we need in the team every week when healthy. Buy a player like that and the players already here that our decent become the depth.

Firstly I'm not new here and certainly not new to being a blue. I'm simply trying to say that you could pluck God knows how many ace foreign players from the ether but by enlarge you're wasting time entertaining them until you at least hear that they are linked.

What I think and a couple of others appear to be in agreement with, is that we are nearly half way through a season and with a quality forward for now, we could get CL. You must see how short we are when Richarlison is out and in certain games James is a luxery we can't afford, at least for a full match. I've suggested Zaha because it's a realistic option. Not some wierd Zaha love-in and not saying he's the best player out there BUT like Dacoure, who, with Godfrey have been our most effective signings, Prem proven players can hit the ground running now. His 50 mill tag could feasibly be paid back if he fires us into the CL and if not he'd still be a good player for us over the next few years, miles better than some of the [Poor language removed] we've signed. If you don't think Zaha, thats fine, but I'd rather hear about realistic signings who

Unfortunately Zaha isn’t realistic because he is literally keeping Crystal Palace in the Premier League on his own. If they sell him, they will go down, so I doubt they will sell him to anyone. Certainly not in January, but possibly in the summer when the 85 year old Roy Hodgson finally retires, but even then I think it’s unlikely.

I agree that he’s exactly what we need tho. If we did sign him, it kind of reminds me of Manchester United buying Andy Cole for some reason, by that, I mean buying another club’s best player because it was obvious that it would take United to another level.

Fraid not. Its about losses/wages.

United have massive debts, but service them easy and have a massive income. City have zero debt, but an income way below United. Dont forget, City got off a FFP rap cos of their lawyers playing Uefa's off the park.
