No you might be right, he may well not have picked him as soon as we signed him, I can't remember to be honest. I just knew that it wasn't the case that he didn't pick him much overall, he definitely started the last 10 or 12 games because I remember thinking that it put the old 'just needs a run of games' argument to bed.

Just remember thinking at the time that he looked very Jelavic - and it was proved in Silva's first season.

Exactly. I've said before, he's not an awful player, he just wasn't worth what we paid for him or the wages we gave him. I think I used pretty much the exact words you've just used to describe him back in that first run of games, 'very Jelavic', I think it was clear pretty early on that he didn't have a huge amount to his game. I can imagine him doing just fine for West Brom or Hertha or one of the teams he's been linked with. He's a player who's scored at a decent rate in the CL and at international level, it makes me laugh how people make out like he's a complete no-hoper. He's just another in a long line of players that we've paid way over the odds for.

I think the injury he had has really ruined him. He was by no means a great player before his injury like but he doesn't even look like he can play football any more. I think at the start of the season the club probably thought he'd match Kean's contribution from last season which was their justification for loaning him without replacing him and first season Tosun probably would have done so without any issue but we can see now he's clearly not up to it.
He just looks lost whenever he comes onto the pitch.

It's meant to be slightly easier apparently. This lad is also only 19 and has already scored in world cup qualifying so he'd probably get special dispensation even under the old rules (well, provided he signed for anyone other than Everton).

He did but so did everyone else and we weathered that storm. United fan mate of mine said was the best he'd seen them all season in that first half.
Agree though its a weird deal if it comes off. Bernard got more to offer than Olsen for sure.
