Why do we even have this thread, it’s pointless, we never do anything in January lol I love how we have all these comments about players we’re not even linked to, if that’s the case, We need a backup striker, Lewandowski could do the job, heard he’s pretty good in the Bundesliga and can score goals.

As I said I think finding the right player is the issue not the money.

We have seen on occasions on here a clamour for players to be signed and that if we don't sign then we will be passed out by whatever team is going through a temporary purple patch at that time.

We have two requirements for the squad at the moment.
Expensive signings that will come straight into the team and make the first eleven stronger.
A couple of players that may not be certain starters but are capable of doing a decent job for the team.

I think we need a right back , a central midfielder and a wide player for the right side but ideally somebody who can play left and right.

We need cover at striker who can fill in for DCL or Richarlison and I think creative cover for JR as he just will not be able to play every game imo.

Always amazes me that people can, with a straight face, call for the addition of half a team in a transfer window. As if it's remotely plausible. No personal offence meant either buddy.
 

January is a bit of a nothing window really, I don’t expect us to sign anyone of note. I’m looking forward to the summer though as that’ll be the time to cash in on a lot of players with a year left on their current deals.

I’m assuming Coleman, James and Branthwaite will all stay, but that still leaves Lossl, Kenny, Delph, Sigurdsson, Bernard, Tosun, and a few fringe lads like Baningime. Awful lot of wedge to be saved there so I’m hoping Brands is able to work his magic and find buyers.

I think given the lack of action that people are assuming nothing will happen, you can bet that Carlo and Brands are looking at a few options, none of them record-breaking like. But its all about getting value in this window and there is not a great deal to be had.

I know people have suggested the French league, but players from there take time to settle and sometimes never do, so wheres the value if the player doesn't make an impact?

Also as I keep saying, numbers-wise the squad is in a good spot, so we would, solely for a housekeeping POV want to operate a 1 in, 1 out policy.

We do have a few players we could sell and replace elsewhere in the squad, but in order to sell, somebody has to want to buy.

If we do anything it will be around Deadline day, that's the time most clubs bend.
 
The big money January moves we have made that stick out in my memory are: James Beattie, Morgan Schneiderlin, Cenk Tosun and Theo Walcott.

I suppose Jelavic could be considered a good signing for his purple patch which got us on a cup run and 6th in the league.

Agree, think it boils down to whether or not we can sell Kenny and Tosun. If so, upgraded replacements will come in. If not, we go with what we have
 

Hopefully we will see some movement start this week ;-)

We've heard/seen in media that there has/is interest in Lossl, Bernard Tosun,, Kenny and loan interest in Branthwaite ;-) Hopefully at end we can somehow get rid of Bolasie and Besic too!

Honestly even if we did'nt replace any of those with others , we won't be at a loss!

A forward/winger on loan with removing all that would'nt be too bad
