Max Aarons has 1 assist, in 2 seasons.

1!!!
Aarons has scored 1 goal and 1 assist in the last 2 seasons.

Hes not what we need.

But hes still young, read a very good thing about him last night.

Aarons pushes forwards whenever he has the chance. He provides an outlet on the right, either for a centre-back to find with a direct pass, a switch of play from the left (below), or an overlapping run around the outside of the impressive Emiliano Buendía on the right side of Norwich’s midfield. Buendía is a creator who drifts infield rather than hugging the touchline, so Aarons is regularly asked to provide their width.

He joins attacks whenever possible, largely thanks to their central midfielders – usually Alexander Tettey and Kenny McLean – being willing to sit deep, and often does well to get into a position to cross. However, all too frequently he is let down by his final ball.

Frequently let down by his final ball.

Swerve!!!

I'll be happy with either over Coleman like but Im just not personally sold on Aarons when Norwich would have us pay the english premium for him.

For me Celik could be like Digne and the highly rated Aarons the highly rated Tierney. If we signed Celik who's the lesser known he may well end up the much better signing down the line.

Well Digne and Tierney are 2 of the top 3 left backs in the league so if them 2 turn out like that they'll be doing well

Think our days of "Punting" X Y Z on players should be over quite frankly. Aarons is worth the money, pay it,get him in. You've have probably have said the same about Godfrey not so long ago and look how that turned out.
Godfrey has played CB at a solid level for us a grand total of 0 times. I can't believe how certain people are that this was a top signing. Have we learned anything from the first impressions on Bernard, Gomes, Iwobi, etc?

Can’t be bothered having another right back who can’t cross a ball.
Crossing is one thing but my biggest thing is we need someone who like Digne can be a solid player in building things up. Seamus lack of positioning and passing ability makes it really hard to work it down the right when he plays and causes a ton of giveaways.

Would rather a punt on him than spending £30 million on Aarons who is overrated imo.
It’s a difficult call. Celik has no PL experience.

Aarons was 20, playing rb in a team that got relegated. Hard to shine.

I’ve watched the hights videos of them both, and to be honest I prefer Aarons. He is comfortable playing out from the back, is quick and is always looking to move forward. However, Norwich probably won’t sell right now and others will be interested in him in summer.

Celik is available now. It’s difficult to judge him from the videos available. He looks like an attacking fullback, but beyond that I can’t tell. Spurs have looked at him but not taken the plunge.

Also, we’ve been managing well without a rb lately, so we may decide it can wait till summer.

Given the choice, I’d wait for Aaron’s.

And it wasn't very good in my opinion. I know you really like that guy and you know I really think we're jumping the gun with proclaiming him the next in line to play CB for us for the next decade so I think we're good here.

How can you not like Godfrey?

I know you used Bernard and Gomes and we as a fanbase do jump the gun, good and bad, but you judge players on how they play and Godfrey has played very well in most if not all games.

He's played out of position for us all season?! If anything that says even more about how much of great signing he's been.

I like him as a person. I love his attitude.

As a player we've seen him play CB very little and I don't really think he's done well in any of them. We've seen him play fullback a lot and imo he's not ever going to be good enough on the ball to play that position consistently. He's done well enough defensively out there but playing the center is different and we have hardly seen that.

I don't think he's bad, I just don't know that he is good. People are patting Brands on the back and talking about what we will look like with Holgate and Godfrey in CB and I'm just very much not at that point.

I mean he's played very well in most of his games so far but yes, not yet at CB.

I get your point about fans being too one way or the other with players but so far with Godfrey the signs are very promising.

Nowhere near the finished product but as far as starts go then he's made a pretty good one.

Our best CB partnership atm, because of how we're playing, is Keane and Mina.

When - if - we have a full team fit again, be interesting to see how it works if Godfrey slots in there. But at 22/23 he's got all the attributes.
