As a player we've seen him play CB very little and I don't really think he's done well in any of them. We've seen him play fullback a lot and imo he's not ever going to be good enough on the ball to play that position consistently. He's done well enough defensively out there but playing the center is different and we have hardly seen that.

I don't think he's bad, I just don't know that he is good. People are patting Brands on the back and talking about what we will look like with Holgate and Godfrey in CB and I'm just very much not at that point.

Neither am I, but he looks a great player, with, as you say, a great attitude.

Sometimes its ok to enjoy players.

I get your point about fans being too one way or the other with players but so far with Godfrey the signs are very promising.

Nowhere near the finished product but as far as starts go then he's made a pretty good one.

Our best CB partnership atm, because of how we're playing, is Keane and Mina.

When - if - we have a full team fit again, be interesting to see how it works if Godfrey slots in there. But at 22/23 he's got all the attributes.

Are we sure? He's certainly got the physical attributes. His effort and determination is all the way at the top. Does he position himself well? Is he good enough in the air?

I don't know the answer and I just don't know how anyone can be certain right now.

I'll enjoy watching Godfrey play this way if he does it when he moves into the middle. Fullbacks who are limited on the ball are not players I enjoy. I've been on Seamus case for 3 years now. It isn't personal.

Seriously- Tosun was a panic buy of Sam's when we were afraid of going down. Now we're stuck with a sub-par player at a high wage.

Anyone we get in this window will be the same kind of thing. We'll be stuck with whoever we bring in for awhile.

I'm leery of bringing anyone in under those terms.

King doesn't thrill me, but he's a PL veteran, he knows the drill, he was ok on some poor Bournemouth teams. He's a big dude and strong, can play the same style as DCL so we wouldn't have to change up our best attacking formation

If he won't command a high wage I'd be ok with it to have another body to spell DCL, until we can get real help at striker, either by bringing Kean back (ha) or getting someone suitable over the summer.

Im looking at him as a squad player, somebody who can come in and play almost anywhere and not let us down.

Im not suggesting he will win ballon anytime soon.

Enjoy him.

I would like to think at some point we will have actual squad depth and his fullback playing days will be confined to history.

And I enjoy football in a different way to you. Just deal with that.
