Safe to say even Keane has flaws mate.

But at the moment I think we've got a good CB unit. Need a right-back - it should have been done already and for me is a major failing of the recruitment not having the foresight to do it.

Other than that, seems a pretty good platform to build from.
Yes absolutely. Replace the guy who is getting on in years before you need to. That's why when we get to the summer thread I'm going to start talking about how we need to find James and Allan replacements. Not because I expect them to be done next year but because they will lose it and it hurts worse if you're not prepared.

Hmm, not sure myself mate.

Carlo likes him, he's happy here.

We have a manager who doesn't do 'first XIs'. That's a benefit.

We get into Europe, which is the aim, and there's plenty of games to go around.
I can see a right-back being addressed, so where does that leave him?

Sure we need a squad, so maybe there's space for Holgate AND Godfrey, but, we have to factor Gmblammo in, of course I'm not saying trust him, but factor him.

Exactly, if we get European football regularly over next few years and with the injuries we constantly get most of our squad will play enough games to keep them happy

Cant believe posters want to sell Godfrey and Holgate, they both make Keane and Mina look better, because they possess one thing Keane and Mina severely lack...pace. As a unit defensively the last 7 or 8 games we have definitely looked a lot more solid at the back.
At no point did I suggest we sell either, at all, I'm a big fan of both lads.

Have you guys seen much of him? I know he was an absolute animal on FIFA but other than maybe a Dutch National Team game or two I don't think I've ever seen him in real life.

Think I first saw him play in a Netherlands game a few years ago and was really impressed.

Saw him play in Europe a few times for PSV last season and again, impressed me.

Just a really big, powerful runner. Real engine and puts in a good cross. Think a better version of Sidibe, basically.

Well let's face it we don't know how long Seamus has left.

I imagine 2-3 years at least, but another bad injury and we never know.

I also just think you need options. This means we need Europe though, to build that squad.

Yeah, he obviously stands out in Dutch footy but he's excelled in Europe too against better sides

Decent going forward - can be a little ropey at times, but I think he shines more than not. Can pick out a cross. Great recovery pace at the back, and cant half win a header

But will Holgate by happy with just being a squad player?

That doesn't mean I don't think he cant improve and claim a spot.

God that’s depressing the thought of watching Coleman in 3yrs. Let’s hope it’s In the league of Ireland by then .

Coleman finished and I hope I hardly ever see him again in a blue shirt

Yeah see what you're saying. Guess time will tell.

Personally think there's signs there that the people who matter would want him to be a key figure.

Stress again though, best way to ensure that is by the club - and conversely the players - performing better and getting us into Europe and further into competitions.

It also boils down to it being a double-edged sword because we need better players to give us that edge to get us deep into competitions.

Hmm, I think his start to the season shows how useful he can be.

But we know he should be a bit-part player now. It's a failing of the recruitment that he isn't already.

However, I don't think he won't be here in 2 years' time, even as just that club captain figure who drops in every now and then - like Jags in his last 2 seasons. Whatever we think of Coleman's performances lately, he's well respected in the dressing room and by the manager.

Oh I agree, Europe is vital to our progress, any and all revenue streams are central.
