Everton January transfer window 2021

Regardless of whether (like me) you think Lingard is crap, West Ham have shown they are serious about making a challenge for a European place by being creative in the market.

They couldn't loan him without making their deal for Benrahma permanent, so they sorted that then brought in Lingard to strengthen their midfield.

We are seemingly sat with our heads in the sand repeating "We won't get any more injuries, we won't get any more injuries, we won't get any more injuries" yet with absolutely no plan in place for when the injuries inevitably come.

I can see West Ham comfortably finishing above us because they've actually ensured they have a squad, whereas we have about 7 good players and the rest wouldn't get into any side above us because the difference in quality between our good players and those in the next bracket down is so big.

We've literally got about 7 top six players, and the rest of the squad is made up of relegation fodder or below players.

Its not worth it unless we have a striker coming in on loan to fill the void in that gap.

They could go top of the Turkish league if they win there game in hand so i dont think theyre penniless either. We've just appeared so desprate to cut wages theyve taken advantage. If he does and hits 10 goals in 6 months and wins them the league it would appear theyve had us off twice now, but as its Everton that wouldnt suprise me.

The Turkish league and the revenue they have is tiny compared to the PL though. And they know, if they are hawking players to them, the clubs are desperate.

I mean, nobody is forcing us to accept their offer.

I would to be honest mate.

He’s Turkeys high profile international centre forward, we paid them 20+ million, he’s a hero there, we’ve no centre forwards.

Don’t see the point, we’re short up front, getting nothing for this, giving him away for next to nothing to the same crowd after paying 20odd million for two and half years ago and they get the chance to throw him back in the bin if it doesn’t work out.

Just don’t see what’s good for us here, it’s a poor deal.
You do know wages are paid in money and not magic beans!!

Reduction in outgoing wages means more money on the books and therefore helps transfers

And if there was interest from other clubs offering money, he would have been sold. But there clearly wasn’t, hence why they’re called rumours

West Ham have sold Haller to fund that though.

Haller out Lingard in. Probably smart business.

We would have to sell a saleable asset though. So someone like DCL, Richarlison, Digne etc. Is that what we would have wanted?

the good old buy anyone because someone else has.

Fernando Llorente and Jesse Lingard, you’ve had a nightmare here butters

Yeah I think I read an article once on wages mate, I forget most of it now, but I think you might have the right if it there! :)

I think you need to learn to read mate. Unless you think "Unless you think he's crap like I do" means I rate the player? In any case, nevermind. ;)

We are supposed to have scouting network and a quality Director of Football with contacts all over the world, yet it seems there isn't a player in world football we could buy or loan who wouldn't offer us something for six months.

I'm sure there are. And the window hasnt closed yet. Let's see what happens and then judge it once it does.

However if we dont bring anyone in, the question may well be, were funds available in the budget?

We just have a reckless and completely baffling approach to transfers, which has continued under Brands. Now I fully understand you can't force clubs to buy your awful players, but what's the point of getting Carlo and James if you refuse to finish the job and put quality players alongside them?

We're going to play an entire season with one out and out striker in he entire squad. Utterly shocking.

Is that Brands job, or the owners/board of the club to provide more funds though mate?

Surely with bernard and lossl expected to go aswell we have to be looking at someone. theres plenty of players clubs would loan out. The sheer number of clubs ancelotti has been at youd think he could hopefully think of someone he could get in for 6 months.

Might be another goalkeeper to take lossls second goalkeeper slot on the bench lol

I mean with Ozil, I'm pretty sure Arsenal bought him out of his contract. I highly doubt they are paying him anything like what hes on at Arsenal.

I mean, selling to Turkey really is the equivalent of spawning your gold watch at the nearest pawn brokers. It's a terrible market to have to engage in, and you only do it when you're desperate.

That doesnt mean it's not a bad deal though, but I'm not shocked it's what theyve offered. He should never have been bought for the price he was.

They did mate, but we both know the signing in fees go to the player in these cases and there would have been a tripartite negotiation between the player, Arsenal and Fener each giving a little to remunerate his contract. He’s on 60k over three years I believe.

I know where your coming from, but 500k - 1mil in a loan fee, with maybe 5-8 mill obligation seems very reasonable to me and not beyond Turkish clubs. It’s probably the last year of his Amort anyway.

Just seems ridiculous to me, we’re giving players away, leaving the squad short, for no financial incentive or future obligation, to get four months of wages payed (presuming they are paying his wages).

Just don’t see what benefit we get out of this.

Its pretty clear to me.
We don't pay the wages of a player who offers us next to nothing for the rest of the season.
