SELL.
I completely agree with the idea of Delph and gbamin not being the allan replacement but without european football or selling players (which is unlikely) would we be able to buy another who is good enough without spending another x amount on wages. We have Delph, Allan, Doucoure, Gylfi, Gomes and Davies now and none of them will leave the contract they have here in a rush. The only option that seems viable is either loan or an ageing player for 18 months with top level experience and each of them comes with potential issues. This is part of the problem. Allan's obviously good enough - he's probably our best CM, in fact. Delph, however, is poop and Gbamin isn't going to do much of anything for us before April. We actually need a pacy, young-ish, aggressive CM to come into the squad now, and he needs to be at least better than one of Doucoure and Allan.
If the reports earlier today of Watford sniffing around Delph are true then I'd happily sell him - he's got no future here and isn't presently good enough to even play ahead of Gomes or Davies. Clear more space on the payroll, bring in £3m or £4m in transfer fees and go get somebody young, fast and ambitious instead.
Agree 100% re the need for another forward too - not necessarily a striker because a wide man could be equally useful but the same principle applies - whoever comes in has to good enough to genuinely compete for a starting XI berth from day one.
Did anyone expect their to be either?
It's a buyers market. They dictate what they will pay.
I would to be honest mate. He’s Turkeys high profile international centre forward, we paid them 20+ million, he’s a hero there, we’ve no centre forwards.
Don’t see the point, we’re short up front, getting nothing for this, giving him away for next to nothing to the same crowd after paying 20odd million for two and half years ago and they get the chance to throw him back in the bin if it doesn’t work out.
Just don’t see what’s good for us here, it’s a poor deal.
We get very little from him staying and paying his wages. There's nothing to say the clubs can't negotiate something in the summer.I would to be honest mate.

It's almost as if the world (and his value) have changed in those two and a half years.I would to be honest mate.

The Turkish Market is tiny though mate, and that was before Covid. In terms of fees, they are not far off where the PL was in the late 90's. Their just isn't the money available.
As for us, we get some of the wages off the books for 6 months. Maybe it's worth it, maybe it's not.
They paid nothing for Ozil and apparently the fans are paying his wages. Financially they are the same level as Celtic.Sorry mate, I think it’s a poor deal.
A lot of reports there was interest in Spain and Russia.
Ozil has just gone there and they can push the boat out when they need and want to. I’m not expecting what we paid, but a loan fee or an agreed fee obligation in the summer even taking a loss I would think would be worth our while. We’re just basically giving players away now. I can understand one or two, but Tosun has value.
Just don’t see the point of this, creates the illusion he’s gone, the squad will move on, but we’ve got nothing for him and he could be back in the summer and we’re short upfront.
We’ve a good 40 mill + of investment in strikers out on loan now, short up front and nothing coming in on them.
Did you read into how that deal was paid for?Sorry mate, I think it’s a poor deal.

Its not worth it unless we have a striker coming in on loan to fill the void in that gap.The Turkish Market is tiny though mate, and that was before Covid. In terms of fees, they are not far off where the PL was in the late 90's. Their just isn't the money available.
