Everton January transfer window 2021

I'm surprised we haven't been linked with more James style players ie top players Carlo knows from big clubs who currently need to be playing but aren't. Surely Barca and Madrid want to shift some of these characters. I'd like to see us do a Turkish Tosun on them!

Yes
Or, Brands and the scouts have had the feelers out for months, keeping a tight lid on any news leaking out. In the last week or so, as our interest has solidified, some rumours are starting to surface.

Hard to fathom why you think that the fact an internet "ITK" posting about our supposed transfer targets in the final day of the window means that we only started looking yesterday. To me it says we are now much better at restricting the flow of information out of the club.
Yes mate I firmly believe that we only started looking yesterday.

Why would we waste our resources having brands and his minions do months of in depth scouting when we can just wait until the final day where Marcel can pick someone from a Twitter post to spend millions on?

You silly goose, don't you know the "ITK" stands for "In the know"? Next you'll be telling me that those players actually have to agree to transfer and that we aren't actually going to panic buy Andy Carroll...

Oh for a lukaku or Drogba type striker...... DCL seems to have found a bit of niche as a tap in merchant / 6 yard poacher, when we are incapable of setting them up for him, we simply don’t have a plan B, someone with power to burst through defences, or lash them in from distance...
Easier said then sorted like, I do appreciate that.

We are working in the back ground all the time indentifying new targets.

Just because we have not heard anything does not mean we are not working on something.

Your point about time being required to enact Carlo's vision is valid. Maybe I need to temper my expectations as it is a process.
But I believe Walcott , Bernard and even Kean were flawed footballers but possessed the ability to serve as an adequate supplemental squad. At least until the more peripheral players were moved on. To cast off all of our bench players doesn't benefit us unless some form of replacement is provided. We currently have one attacker on the bench , our options are so scarce. I just feel that's negligent especially for a team that has aspirations. Discard the duds but coverage for the first team needs to maintained.
I do agree. The bench offered nothing yesterday. I think Kean would have played this season, but his departure was tied up in politics with an overly powerful agent.

Walcot, Bernard and Tosun may have offered options, but none has shown any game changing form for us. One thing this is doing though is putting a spotlight on the problems. A massive squad on paper is actually paper thin.

Weve just got to hope that one or two are lined up to come in.
