Everton January transfer window 2021

Ancelotti worked with him from December till September, gave him game time, didn’t impress even against a League Two side
And yet we know he has the talent as he is scoring for a massive club one of the biggest in the world. Managers job to get the best out of the player and we failed to do that. 1000 mins playing time over 10 months is NOTHING especially for a youngster playing in a different country

Well, depends what you judge as obscene.

£30m might be judged as a fair amount by them.

But yeah, i'll acknowledge it's unlikely, just feels like the kind of move which should be made if we actually are serious about doing something this season.

Look at the teams around us.

I stand by it, we don't get Europe if we don't add to the squad - and the aim this season is to get Europe. Anything else will be considered a failure.
Yep it’s defo the kind of move that will push us on. I just don’t see that kind of player being available in January.

You may get him for £30mil in the summer, but clubs don’t usually sell their best players for the going market rate mid season.

Why would leverkusen who are pushing for champions league sell one of the their best players now . It won't happen in this window .

The same reason a lot of clubs in the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 and LaLiga sell players - because they aren't cash-rich and are very good at ensuring a production line for younger players to come through.

They've signed Gray, Fosu-Mensah and Frimpong this window. They'd probably back themselves to get Champions League regardless because it's just how they operate.

I'm not saying they definitely would, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try, does it?

I appreciate that. The frustration is he was there for cheaper last year.

It's the kind of deal that we could stake our intent at - it'd certainly show we mean business and is a deal in terms of age and quality that makes sense.

However, there's obviously other targets, but plenty of good players have moved clubs in the middle of the season. If you do the legwork early, it makes it a lot easier. We simply don't seem to do that.

So if he has the talent, why did he not show it enough when played here? Why were there reports of his lateness in training and breaches of lockdown?

They can wait and sell him in the summer..
His value won't drop and if they make champions league it boosts them financially.
I think it would be a a waste of time trying at this stage yes.

Not settled? Young player moved to new league new country does not even speak english. Needs time to settle and playing time. Was not given any really.
