Good grief there are some proper bubblehead comments flying around in here regarding Josh King.
He can play in any of the front three positions, he's tall, quick and has a track record of scoring 48 in 161 Prem appearances.
Is he better than Tosun? Yes. Clearly.
Is he worth what he is CURRENTLY being paid per week by Bournemouth? Yes. And his current wage wouldn't pose a financial issue for us.
Is he worth the £120k per week his agent is after? Obviously not, and we can't afford that much anyway.
I don't want him on a brand new contract, where we pay him £6m a year (which is what £120k p/w roughly amounts to). I would be perfectly happy with him on LOAN however, with us paying either a couple million fee for the loan OR his wages at his CURRENT rate.
If I can work this scenario through in my head, I'm sure Brands and Ancelotti can. I suspect they are waiting for King's agent to realise that no-one is interested in offering his client a £100k+ p/w contract. At that point, the agent will be telling the player that he'll get significant playing time with us due to our squad situation and therefore could either earn a new deal with us in the summer or at least attract other interest by putting on a show against prem opposition.
Bournemouth want some sort of financial return on the player. The player's agent wants to secure a move, either now or in the summer, for an improved weekly wage. We want pacy backup in the front 3. A loan suits all three parties at this point.
Loan I’ll accept and get behind it but it really won’t be a loan deal.
