Its funny that lads in here thinking we are gonna be paying in excess of £100k for Josh King, I dont think so but we dont know so lets not speculate until we know the truth. I`m sure even Everton will that insane!

Could it be we are saving the wages for another signing coming in under the radar from Real Madrid on a Rodriguez type deal?

Less of the common sense please mate, we need more set fire to the club and erase it from the history books kind of shizzle this evening.

Also apparently the price is 5-6m which is a fair price compared to the 18m quoted in the summer. If we get a good deal wages wise then I'd say @GrandOldTeam was correct a few hours ago and a bit of gamesmanship has been going on in order to strike the right deal for us.

Dont mind the king signing, he's a decent player, he's better backup than what we have at the minute and with how many injuries we seem to get im sound with it.

Take the name away, tell me you would be disappointed if I said we've found a striker who can cover all 3 positions up top, has a 1 in 3 strike rate in the PL with Premier league experience, has pace and is at a decent age experience wise (considering DCL is 21/22 and Richarlison is 23/24).

If the price is decent and his wages aren't astronomical then its a player who imo will be very useful not just to bring off the bench but also as a starter in some games and means we can change it up a little.

It was imperative we found someone
Oh, look - and I've said this before - as a player, he generally fits the bill.

But my point in the summer was, why not just do it then? It's probably not ended up costing us much less.

Or, why not push at the start of this window? Have it lined up, done.

I appreciate there's a lot of moving parts, but we now could be stuck with another player on possibly big wages (it'll be at least £60-70k) and even on a 2.5-year deal, that means he'll be 31 and a half by the time that runs out.

Wouldn't it have been more prudent to use the loan market? Wouldn't it have been more prudent to simply move for somebody else last summer, again on loan as a first option?

We were in for Zirkzee mate. A youngster at the other end of the spectrum. We wanted him, but needed to shift players. Fair enough, but then it's completely to the opposite end of the spectrum for King.

No profile of a player, no planning it seems.

I don't even think it's a 'panic' really, but it will end up looking like one.

I think he can be a useful player for us, but the argument that people had earlier that we were keeping our powder dry and Brands wasn't into signing anybody like Walsh would on big wages etc or whatever, well it's fallen down, again.

I'm actually more measured now than I was last night. Been on the bike and stuff - always helps :) - but it seems like some disjointed thinking. Anyway, if he comes, it's better than nothing and he knows how to score in the league - it's genuine competition for Rich and Dom, so an improvement.

He isn't one in 3, closer to one in 4 (and that's not taking into account the fact his stats are padded with penalties)

Compared to tosun in prem league

Tosun is 3.875 games per goal
King is 3.864 games per goal

Goals per min tosun is every 173.7
King is every 210.

If we get him, I hope he does well and proves me wrong. But he isn't good enough, even as back up for a European chasing club. And next year, people will be back here, complaining he is draining the club etc.

that is because king was overprice and UTD realise he was not worth it.

They bid 25 mill apparently and that was knocked back, 25 mill was very good money for him, Bournemouth should have but their hand off. That said it was Jan and what price was PL survival at the time for them, not that it mattered in the end,
