Pleased with that and despite not being totally convinced on King, it is something different and the structure of the deal seems sensible.

I wanted us to go get him in 2017 and would have taken him the year after that too for Silva's first season.

Last summer, I didn't want us to get rid of Kean and get King in, but ultimately that's what's happened.

I'm happy with the deal that's been done because it suits all parties and doesn't have us overcommitting and, in terms of what we need, he is very much the template of the versatile forward we're looking for, though obviously long term not the answer.

However, I think we leave everything far too late, and believe there were perhaps other loan deals which could have been done this window to bolster our squad sooner.

When you’ve been playing for Eddie Howe for a few years and then Scott Parker is the other manager interested in you, it isn’t the hardest decision you’ve ever made is it.
