I wanted us to go get him in 2017 and would have taken him the year after that too for Silva's first season.

Last summer, I didn't want us to get rid of Kean and get King in, but ultimately that's what's happened.

I'm happy with the deal that's been done because it suits all parties and doesn't have us overcommitting and, in terms of what we need, he is very much the template of the versatile forward we're looking for, though obviously long term not the answer.

However, I think we leave everything far too late, and believe there were perhaps other loan deals which could have been done this window to bolster our squad sooner.

Good = Branthwaite, Kean, Simms and Gordon getting game time + Bolasie and Lossl gone.

Bad = Not selling Bernard, Kenny, Tosun, Baningime.

Unsure = Josh King...i woke up 45mins ago. Loan till end of season then a Gareth Barry type deal where we pay bournemouth if we get him on a free?

Thankfully Walcott is gone in June too.

So, just the £60k a week for him not to play for us until then.

Id be quite happy to have done the same with a few others...at least in summer we have the spaces cleared out.

We do have Davies, whatever we think about him, Carlos does seem to rate him. Tbh I don’t think he’s as bad as people make out, there’s always one that has to be the one people slate and it usually the local one. Barkley,Hibbert, osman all use to get it. But perso ally I’d like to see Holgate as holding midfielder if Allan is out.
