Comments from Senegal FA lead to Everton exit rumors

In a move that surprises no one, it looks like Everton are ready to send Oumar Niasse on his way in a move that is sure to be less impressive than the one that brought him here just 7 months ago. According to media reports a loan to Galatasaray in the Turkish League will be completed soon for a fee of just over £1 million. The two clubs are currently negotiating on a buyout clause as part of the loan for £5 million at the end of the current season.

Comments from the Senegal FA president have pushed these rumors even further.

Per the source, Senegal FA president Augustin Senghor was speaking to reporters about Niasse’s charitable efforts and contributions to the football federation when he said he hopes the Everton striker is successful in Turkey next season.

That has to hurt, but after his dreadful time here it’s no wonder no one wants to take a huge shot on him. He is familiar with the Turkish league having played for Akhisar and still has a Turkish agent before he left to join the Russian League. In the end I think this one probably happens and the purchase fee is near the £5 million. It’s a big loss on the fee spent so recently to make him the third most expensive signing in Everton history, but better than spending more money on his salary this season.

Manager Ronald Koeman has already made it clear that Niasse is not part of his plans going forward with the Senegalese forward not even in Saturday’s gameday squad. Gerard Deulofeu made a solid impression in his start up top this weekend leaving Niasse even further from seeing playing time in Everton blue.

Kevin Mirallas got the Everton preseason off to a flying start with a beauty of a free-kick against Barnsley on Saturday.

Speaking to the press today, the Belgian forward said that new manager Ronald Koeman has been teaching the players a thing or two about dead ball situations. On the evidence of what we saw, it’s working quite well so far. Can’t wait to see what he has taught Leighton Baines.

“I work two or three times a week [on my free-kicks]. Now, the new manager is someone who had that as a speciality when he played. He’s had a few words with me about shooting and now I’ve scored and I’m very happy.

“We had a training game in Austria but [Saturday] was really the first game in pre-season. We won 3-0 and that’s good because a lot of the players only came back this week for training but the team played well.

“It was a good game. Barnsley created a few chances but the defence played well, Joel [Robles] played well and it was a good game for pre-season.”

Mirallas has been used in the main striker’s role and sometimes augmenting Romelu Lukaku when he is on the pitch, but on Saturday we saw Gerard Deulofeu in that advanced position, and this is what Mirallas had to say –

“Geri played striker, which was a surprise for everybody, for him as well, but he played very well, showed his pace and scored a nice goal.

“I don’t know if it’s his position for the future but he played very well.

“The next game comes quickly for us now and we need to prepare because it’s not easy to play every three days. But we have a good squad, so there’s no problem with that.”

Second game of preseason schedule for Toffees

After a successful afternoon at Barnsley on Saturday, Everton continue their formal preseason schedule tonight with a game at Football League One side MK Dons. Everton have never played this version of The Dons before, who were founded in 2004 after historic side Wimbledon Football Club relocated to Milton Keynes.

Club captain Phil Jagielka missed the game with an injury, and is doubtful to make a return tomorrow. Gareth Barry, John Stones and James McCarthy also sat out with various ailments, while Gerard Deulofeu will have a late fitness test after picking up a knock against the Tykes.

Oumar Niasse and Arouna Kone were not on the squad list for Saturday, and it remains to be seen if they will be integrated into the preseason schedule or are on their way elsewhere as rumored.

Toffees defender Brendan Galloway is a former Don and is expected to receive a warm welcome back to his old stomping grounds.

This will be MK Dons’ eighth game of the preseason, with three wins, three draws and a loss so far. Their first game of the League One season is in eleven days, on August 6th.
