Everton play like 'Stoke'

You know its just over a month ago we received universal praise for the act of respect and solidarity with Liverpool against Newcaslte over the Hillborough affair.

Its actually disgusting that he went to the media proactively to have a pop at the club, classless really - i wish i could say i expected better.

Fell a bit sorry for him if im honest.

Does it gall anyone else that this is even considered a criticism? As far as I'm concerned there's no "right way" to play football, as long as you're playing within the rules. I don't care if you're playing the ball two yards or twenty, each style involves its own positives and negatives.

What's also annoying is that Brendan Rodgers has been there a few months and they're adapting the Barcelona mentality off the pitch, without being anywhere near as good as them on it. So basically, they're self-righteous, smug, and arrogant about playing "the right way".

[Poor language removed] off.

Steven Gerrard describes Everton as big, physical long-ball merchants

• 'There was only one team trying to play football,' says Gerrard

• Liverpool captain criticises Everton's Phil Neville for diving

That part defies parody.....

"I don't think the Everton players would have known too much about Raheem Sterling before Sunday. But I think they are going to be seeing an awful lot of him in the future. He is going to be playing in many, many Merseyside derbies."

This is a personal favourite. Gerrard, you're assuming Sterling is anywhere near as thick as you, and will stick at a mid-table club for the rest of his career based on the words "next year's our year" every season. He won't. He'll take the big move you turned down because you were to much of a sh*t-house to grab the opportunity.

Osman, Pienaar, Mirallas, Baines, Coleman, Jelavic, Neville can all play "the Stoke way"

Fellaini can if he wants, but he's a boss footballer too. Distin is huge yes. Jagielka is small for a centre half.

Sterling will jump ship straight away, give it till he's 20 and there still ****e and he'll be off to City or Chelsea, the lads got no loyalty towards anyone

Im glad everyone thinks this is funny. Thought i might get slated for starting the thread. What we're seeing here is an example of how a footballer can troll in the national newspapers... I reckon he only said this to piss evertonians off.. But it just looks hilarious.... Their second goal... Was that not a free kick from near the halfway line?

The lad has no footballing brain as far as i'm concerned. This was shown lateish in the 2nd half when he was one on one with the last defender and he took a very heavy touch thinking he could bomb onto it and outsprint jags i think it was, as if it was 5 years ago. He doesn't have the legs for it anymore and the ball ended up 20 yards ahead of him flying out for a goal kick. If he had a brain he'd know he doesn't have said legs anymore and wouldn't do. He also still tries these hollywood passes that have a much lower success rate than a few years back - a passing style which is not fitting of their suposed style. Rodgers needs to get some balls and drop him, if he can't turn up for the big games like the merseyside derby then there's nothing left to him.

also, when we win at klanfield i think a nice "swing low, sweet chariot" remedy reminiscent of stoke would be very fitting to tell him where to stick his comments

The only way I knew Gerrard was on the pitch yesterday was every single time the referee blew his whistle Gerrard was there within seconds. He was awful for Liverpool bar one decent cross yesterday

stirling will be sh1t when he loses his pace in a few years. Like Michael Owen, but without the talent.

Come on, jack. We could have Messi and Ronaldo feeding Pele and we still wouldn't win at Anfield.

i know, but this RS team is terrible, we would have given them a right go last year if moyes hadn't had put our 2nds team out. We have andrei mirallas this year, it could be different if he gets 90 mins to cause havoc, we've produced some blinding performances away against teams of similar quality (swansea and villa) and we didn't play anywhere near our best yesterday - first time i can see us going to klanfield and not rule out the possibility of a win
