2' Free kick easily cleared by @Antonee_Jedi. A little bit frantic in the opening couple of minutes. (0-0)

"Robinson woeful"
"Worst game i've seen from Robinson. Was caught out a lot. Lost his fair share of 50/50s. Didn't look comfortable on the ball. Possibly just due to a new partnership with Windass."

Callum Connolly was an unused sub in the same match.

Joe Williams was an unused sub in the Bolton match.

I appreciate that the main focus of this thread is on our younger loanees, but I noticed that Fiorentina won 6 - 1 yesterday... anyone know whether Mirallas played? (I don't use twitter or speak Italian, otherwise I'd probably be inclined to find the answer for myself!)

No. Not been in either of their squads so far.

Weren’t in the squad for some reason mate. They had a bench of 11, so he must be injured or something

He was at fault for conceding the goal mate and got dragged off in a strop.

Joe Williams getting rave reviews after his debut for Bolton today. Good to hear.

Apparently really impressed Silva in pre-season and would possibly have had more of a look in had he not got injured. Super Kev is also a huge admirer and has been championing him for a while now.

One to certainly keep an eye on.

Read that he got involved in some fisticuffs.

Ameobi surges down the centre and picks out @JoeWilliams0812 who sees a shot from 20 yards out rise a yard or two over the bar. (62) #PNE 2-2 #BWFC

"Williams - looks a real hard running, dynamic talent. Very confident in possession, puts himself about. Was consistently mouthing off and getting in the face of their players. What could be more annoying, a mouthy, cocky, chirpy, young, over confident scouser, who can back it up with his play? "Nothing" said the voice in Ben Pearson's head! A futile three game ban to follow! "
"Williams on first viewing is everything we needed. Solid, loads of running and the best passer in the team. "
"Runnerup Williams could learn from him. Kid has it all, including mongrel and bullying. He was into the opposition and their heads from the get go.He's not just a thug, has real quality on the ball and passing ability too. Star in the making. "
"Williams superb."
"Yeah that's my only concern with him, he might get a Joey Barton/Robbie Savage rep. When he so doesn't need to.
He can really play. He's the guy you want getting the ball next after you've turned it over cause he'll pick out a long pass like the one that sent Magennis away and led to our first goal.
I love the mongrel in his heart though, he inspires others. I was smiling as he was having words before kickoff in his debut. He sets the tone. Then he stuck up for a couple of our players who'd been clattered, Then he berated the ref. O'Neill had to pull him to the side a few times - bless O'Neill he's been Mr Miyagi to Daniel-san. Re-sign him now.
Everything you see on his highlight reel was there for Smokin' Joe. Decent height, decent speed, exceptional ability on the ball for a defensive mid, long range passing ability, excellent slide tackling, intimidation, leadership, toughness, and that mongrel that keeps you going until the end. Suck it Wigan we got the good one!
I just think he needs to make his initial rep for his playing ability instead of his hot headedness
Or it will haunt him, cause refs are really stupid."

Wigan Athletic - Callum Connolly and Antonee Robinson played full match in 1-0 home win over Rotherham United

OS Match Report
"Antonee Robinson was causing all kinds of problems down the left hand side, and was twice denied in good positions by some last-ditch challenges.
Connolly went close to giving Latics the lead on 20 minutes when he met Josh Windass’ drilled corner only to head into the side netting at the near post."

Twitter stuff
4' Early yellow card for Jon Taylor. @Antonee_Jedi too fast for him on the left and brings the #USMNT international down. Free-kick to Latics 30 yards from goal on the left side.
7' Corner to Latics. Paul Cook's side on top here. Again, brilliant run from @Antonee_Jedi before @WindassJnr forces the corner.
14' Corner to Latics. @Antonee_Jedi at the centre of everything good about Latics again as he plays a lovely one-two with @WindassJnr before seeing his cross diverted behind for a Latics corner.
18' CHANCE!! After a three-minute delay, Latics take the corner and @LeeEvans94's delivery is met by @Callum1connolly at the near post but he glances just wide.
21' WHAT A CHANCE! Brilliant from Latics as @WindassJnr plays @NPowell25 into the channel. His cross is met by @Callum1connolly eight yards out but he is denied by a superb block.
26' Free-kick to Latics in the centre of the pitch 25 yards out after @Callum1connolly fouled.
61' CLOSE! @Callum1connolly sees an effort well saved by Rodak and on the follow up @cm_macca sees two efforts saved by the keeper.

"Connolly was on the right like he switched to at Villa and scored from. The idea was clearly having his height and aerial ability to attack crosses at the back post and to cause them problems at set pieces plus help us defend against theirs. But it didn't really work like we hoped as we just didn't get enough balls into the box / didn't get him in the box enough."
"Connolly didn't seem overly comfortable in that role "
