Backs up why Silva was impressed with Williams in pre-season. With our lack of quality and options in centre midfield, I’d have liked him to stay and been integrated in to the first team squad.

Can understand the reasoning for loaning him out though. Regular games could be more beneficial for him at this stage.

Unsure if there’s a recall option? But if we continue to lack options in midfield, Gomes doesn’t get fit or work out, and Davies continues to stink the place out like he did yesterday, then I’d bring him back in January and give him a go.

..I said quite a few years ago that Joe Williams was a favourite of mine. His performances went somewhat under the radar but he was the type every team needs. His on the ball ability appears to have flourished but it’s his attitude that gives him a real chance of being effective at the top level.

One to keep an eye on.

I think there was an article saying we were demanding a recall option, so should be able to get him back at new year if we need.

vlasic played the full game yesterday with cska beating ural 4-0. no goals or assists to speak of yet but he's rated as cska's 4th best player with an average rating of 7.34 on whoscored. he's played centrally in every game (think cska play a 3-5-2 so wingbacks provide all the width).

Looks like Joe Williams is picking up right where he left off last season when playing for Barnsley. His combativeness has always marked him out, but I think Bolton fans will be pleased with the amount of skill he has too, something which he is building on each season. Despite the option to get him back early it’s hard to see it happening unless we get a lot of injuries as Silva will be looking to get the likes of Gomes established . I think he’ll turn out to be one of those slow burn players who in a future season makes everybody sit up and take notice and say “ Where’s he been til now ?”
